A Bible full of ancient truths. A woman living a modern life. Join critically acclaimed author Margaret Feinberg as she invites readers on the spiritual adventure of a lifetime. In her quest to better understand what God wants to communicate through the Bible, Feinberg explores the symbols and metaphors within its stories. To discover these deeper meanings, she spends time with a shepherdess in Oregon, walks the fields with a farmer in Nebraska, explores a vineyard of California, and talks with a veteran beekeeper in Colorado. Along the way, she gains deeper insight about how Scripture applies to life today and discovers answers to puzzling questions. Do sheep really know their shepherd’s voice? How often does a grapevine need to be pruned? What does it mean when a land is described as overflowing with honey? Feinberg, a popular author and speaker, was named one of the “Thirty Emerging Voices” of Christian leaders under forty who will lead the church in the next decade, and one of the “Forty under Forty” who will shape Christian publishing. Listener Opinions

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Rachel M. | 2/14/2014

" This book is okay. It isn't exceptionally spiritual because it's mostly a narrative of the author's travels and daily life while spending time with sheep or bees. There are a couple of spiritual references, but most of them are shallow. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Bethany | 2/4/2014

" This is the kind of book I want to read over and over and over again because it is so meaty and so useful! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Roma | 11/26/2013

" What a wonderful job this author has done with taking the bible stories and making them relevent, entertaining, and applicable. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Alyssa Will | 11/19/2013

" Entertaining and interesting, but theologically and agriculturally on the soppy side. Two stars as a Yay for anything with sheep and honeybees in the same book as written by a Christian; three stars off for being overly saccharine and for trying, blog-like, to be deep and failing. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Jennifer | 10/21/2013

" Loved this book! My favorite part was the one on sheep. "

" Great book. Definitely adding to my must keep collection. It allows you to read the scriptures in a whole knew way and therefore rejuvenates your desire to pursue God. Will definitely be looking for more by MF. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Karen | 8/9/2013

" A fun read. Feinberg's writing style is engaging and primarily storytelling mixed with personal reflection. Her journeys to learn from a shepherdess, a farmer, a beekeeper and a vintner are paired with reflection on passages in Scripture dealing with sheep, harvests, honey ad wine. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Stephanie | 7/16/2013

" I really only loved the section on the shepherd...I think the rest was bit too light and fluffy. "

" I thought there was a lot of insight in this book, and really enjoyed reading it. I'd recommend it! However, some of her research seemed like a bit of a stretch; the book started out great and kind of went downhill. By the last chapter, I was glad to be done. "

" I'm maybe 2/3 of the way through, and I'm not going to finish. It's too bad b/c I really love the concept of the book, but it's just poorly executed. It's sloppy. Bummer. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Susan Ford | 11/8/2012
