"Loved it! Don't you just love stories with such a misunderstood and dramtic "meet cute"? Because that is what Jasper and Clarissa shared. I still pick this book up every once and a while to read my favorite parts. "

“Feather gives an overview of Covent Garden, bordellos, pickpockets, Cyprians, and the sights and smells of the place along with the aristocratic and not-so-aristocratic side of bawdy Georgian England in this nicely crafted start to the Blackwater Brides trilogy.”
— RT Book Reviews (4 stars)“A sensuous and wild romp through bawdy London that will leave readers wanting more.”
— Booklist" I have read better. The book started well but then fizzled out for me. The fact that the heroine pretended not to be a virgin and then how she went about to losing her virginity was far stretched and almost funny. I could not take her seriously after that. Jasper was nice, handsome and very very understanding. What I liked about him was that he liked being underestimated when it came to knowing the truth of what the heroine was upto and then surprising her with his obvious intelligence. All in all an interesting read but will not be going back to it again. "
— Arzoo, 2/9/2014" Only got half way through it and had to put it down. Just way too boring for me and it takes a lot of boring for me to put a book down. Of course other people may like it, it just wasn't for me. "
— Elizabeth, 2/7/2014" Interesting plot and story line... Liked Jasper the Main Man.... "
— Marti, 2/6/2014" It's your classic historical romance. "
— Dana, 2/4/2014" This was my book to read during my meal breaks so read over several days. It is romance with a twist and easy to pick up and put down. "
— Linda, 1/29/2014" I like this book, although I felt the end happened really fast even though I knew it was coming. The main character were likable enough. "
— Michelle, 12/30/2013" Cute, decently written story. It's somewhat lacking though - feels like it could have been pushed a little farther for something truly new and noteworthy. "
— Jean, 12/25/2013" A good start to this Blackwater Series, it brought me up to speed since I read the second book first...especially fond of the heroine, she has spunk and fire. "
— Porsche, 12/21/2013" as fast of a read as the title, and fun! "
— Gloriavirtutisumbra, 12/8/2013" Riveting tale of how a misunderstanding between two individuals can turn into a psychological understanding of love and passion. This book kept me on my toes with the suspense of who would tell the truth first. "
— Jackie, 11/17/2013" started off very slow and hard to get into, but got better about halfway through. not the best I've read by Jane Feather. "
— Danielle, 7/30/2013" It's candy floss for your brain. What else is there to say? "
— Sue, 7/6/2013" slow start good finish "
— Shalon, 4/7/2013" I was not impressed with this. First off the title. It did not seem to me that anyone was rushed to the altar. Second I did not feel any connection with the main characters. The book just felt empty. This is supposed to be the first in a trilogy set. So far not impressed. "
— Lindsay, 2/9/2013" Super unbelievable. The whole time, I had a hard time believing the heroine's excuses as to why she won't tell the hero the truth from at least first third of the book. Therefore, for the rest of the novel, I was thoroughly annoyed. "
— Qtpham85, 11/23/2012" Exciting read! Only a bit of miscommunication between Clarissa and Jasper. "
— S, 11/19/2012" Bad story line, stupid characters. I wouldn't have read it if I hadn't been stuck on a plane with no other option. "
— Susie, 11/19/2012" This book was a funny romance. I liked the humor, and the plot was strong. "
— Judith, 12/6/2011" I grabbed this because I left my other book home and needed something for the bus ride. I wasn't even sure I like it enough to finish it. The constant change in POV was annoying, and the storyline was predictable. "
— Helene, 7/20/2011" Riveting tale of how a misunderstanding between two individuals can turn into a psychological understanding of love and passion. This book kept me on my toes with the suspense of who would tell the truth first. "
— Jackie, 5/20/2011" First book in a triliogy, The Blackwater Brides, can't wait for the next one. <br/>Clarissa Astley goes beyond the good sister to save her young brother from their horrid Uncle. "
— Mem, 4/5/2011" Super unbelievable. The whole time, I had a hard time believing the heroine's excuses as to why she won't tell the hero the truth from at least first third of the book. Therefore, for the rest of the novel, I was thoroughly annoyed. "

— Jean, 3/28/2011" This is pretty much a typical, historical romance novel -- a little predictable, but it was a nice escape. The sub-plot regarding the missing brother was actually nicely done; I wonder how much of that is historically accurate. "
— Angie, 2/24/2011" It was a nice historical romance. Not the best I've ever read it did drag at some parts but picked right back and overall was a good read. "
— Aanchal, 1/20/2011" Not the best, not the worst. "
— Rebecca, 11/14/2010" Cute book. Can't wait till the next ones in this series comes out. "
