"This is another series - it started with The Quilters Apprentice, which I read several years ago. But picking up this one brought back all the memories of the first book which I loved. This one as each woman in the quilting bee confronts a personal crisis, a painful truth, or a life-changing choice, the quilt serves as a symbol of the complex and enduring bonds between mothers and daughters, sisters and friends. The Elm Creek Quilters come to realize that friendship is one of the most precious gifts we can give each other, and that love can strengthen understanding, lead to new beginnings, and illuminate our lives."

" Many years ago I read, but wasn't overly impressed with, the first book in Chiaverini's collection of Elm Creek Quilters Novels. Out of the blue I recently picked up the second book and liked it much more. I enjoyed learnng the background stories of some of the women and current events in other's lives that made them seem like real people that might even be friends of mine. "

— Kathy, 2/17/2014" I was thoroughly prepared for this book to be a disappointing sequel to Jennifer Chiaverini's first novel, something extremely too fluffy to enjoy with a good conscience. I was pleasantly surprised to find I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While it was slightly fluffy, I felt this second novel in the series more fully fleshed out its characters and gave the reader deeper insights into life at Elm's Creek. In fact, I think I liked this book better than the first. Dang it! Now I'm going to have to read the third in the series. "

— Milly, 2/13/2014" These folks are now familiar characters. Some of them whom I didn't like much in the first book (The Quilter's Apprentice) have been more fully fleshed out, and I'm beginning to like them. Some that I enjoyed are developing traits I really don't like. I'm staying up far too late into the wee hours reading this book, wanting to reach through the pages and just shake people a bit. "

— Connie, 1/18/2014" I liked this book slightly less than the first book in the series, but the characters remained interesting. These books make me think more about the stories behind the quilts in my own family and that I encounter when I visit others. The book is a generally interesting read that raises the issue of how artistic expression through quilting helped these characters to explain and express their own issues and difficulties. "

— Cathy, 1/17/2014" I have no idea why I love these books so much! But I do. I guess its because of all the crafting & lovely women. I practically want to live in books and be a part of the Elm Street Quilters. I can't wait to read the next one! "

— Jennifer, 12/29/2013" The book just wasn't for me. The symbolism of the "round robin" as both plot device and motif just hit me as sappy. I didn't connect with any of the characters. "

— Sarah, 12/1/2013" This was okay. It was fun to learn about some of the other characters from the first book and learn about their relationships, but the fact that they all had to have some kind of problem was a little far fetched. It wasn't quite as good as the first book. "

— Diane, 8/11/2012" Hmmm.... Not terrible, not even bad or boring... Just disappointing when compared to her first. Kind of blah. The redeeming part is that it really did have some good life lesson reminders - the power of forgiveness and of being interested in the things your loved ones care about. "
