" Many years ago I read, but wasn't overly impressed with, the first book in Chiaverini's collection of Elm Creek Quilters Novels. Out of the blue I recently picked up the second book and liked it much more. I enjoyed learnng the background stories of some of the women and current events in other's lives that made them seem like real people that might even be friends of mine. "

" I was thoroughly prepared for this book to be a disappointing sequel to Jennifer Chiaverini's first novel, something extremely too fluffy to enjoy with a good conscience. I was pleasantly surprised to find I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While it was slightly fluffy, I felt this second novel in the series more fully fleshed out its characters and gave the reader deeper insights into life at Elm's Creek. In fact, I think I liked this book better than the first. Dang it! Now I'm going to have to read the third in the series. "

" This is another series - it started with The Quilters Apprentice, which I read several years ago. But picking up this one brought back all the memories of the first book which I loved. This one as each woman in the quilting bee confronts a personal crisis, a painful truth, or a life-changing choice, the quilt serves as a symbol of the complex and enduring bonds between mothers and daughters, sisters and friends. The Elm Creek Quilters come to realize that friendship is one of the most precious gifts we can give each other, and that love can strengthen understanding, lead to new beginnings, and illuminate our lives.
