As head of the elective surgery unit of one of Houston's largest metropolitan hospitals, I get to spend my evenings with our administrative nurse, basically going over previous day's events. Usually this session, you know - tallying no-shows, reviewing post-op prognosis - goes way into the wee hours of the night. And it's usually the last thing I do before heading home for some much needed sleep each day.
