"I enjoyed this book. It is a good book for the readers it was intended for-meaning middle school children. This book is in line with Harry Potter, though not as good. It was exciting in parts, boring in a few places, but overall a good read. "

" Rather like the 39 Clues, this was intriguing, but sometimes confusing. I found the language and story to be a bit dissonant (we read it aloud), perhaps a result of this being a translation. Good enough, but none of us (myself or my 11-14 yr old kids) are particularly wanting to read the next one. "
— Bonnie, 2/3/2014" this book was very anticlimactic for me. it really seemed like i knew what was happening and was just waiting for the author to tell me. kids will probably like the book though, it's got some decent mystery to it and the characters are likeable. "
— Terryann, 1/10/2014" Really Great Adventure ! Cant wait for the next one "
— Books4m, 1/9/2014" Elettra, Harvey, Mistral, and Sheng are four 12-yr-olds who just happen to share a Feb. 29 birthday and end up sharing a room at Elettra's father's hotel on Dec. 29. They also happen to get involved in a murder, a mystery, and a puzzle that began hundreds of years ago. Who is the mysterious professor that died on the bridge and handed the kids his briefcase full of ancient maps and toy tops? And who is the mysterious violin player after the briefcase? The kids don't know it, but they've been handpicked to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Book 1 in the Century Quartet series. "
— WCPL, 1/5/2014" It was pretty normal. Nothing special. "
— Samantha, 12/18/2013" Super book! Mystery, magic and suspense all rolled into one "
— Lisa, 12/9/2013" I have to admit mysteries don't seem to hold much appeal for me and I don't read many, so I'm not the best person to say if this was a particularly good one or not. I found it an enjoyable enough entertaining read, but it didn't ever get me really excited and I don't have much to say about it besides the plot summary you can read above. Really nice packaging, with a thick section of color photographs in the middle that add depth to the descriptions and visuals to study and puzzle over. Really awful audiobook reader, with ludicrously overdone voices and cliched accents for every character in a dialogue-heavy book. "
— Chris, 11/29/2013" Ada jejak-jejak Ulysses Moore di sini. Ternyata Om Pier lucu juga ^_^ "
— Uci, 11/26/2013" this was a really great book. fantasy, adventure, evil villains, magic, one quest... my kind of stuff. I really liked this book! It was even translated from italian to english it's that amazing. I'll lend it to anybody who wants to read it! "
— Jane, 11/24/2013" i thought this book was exciting and out of nowhere. i didn't see half of it coming while reading it, and i was hooked on the book as soon as i read the back cover. Baccalario, you are an amazing author. "
— Austin, 10/5/2013" This book was amazing.I learned that even that close friends cannot be trusted. This book is going to have you keep it off the shelf and the words on your eyes. "
— Garrett, 8/28/2012" I wasn't immediately caught up in this book but persevered. I eventually liked it and wanted to see how it ended. I eventually liked the book and will read book 2. "
— Patricia, 4/25/2012" It took a little while for me to get into this book but by the end I was burning through pages. For fans of adventure, suspense, fantasy, mystery. 6th and up. "

— Sonja, 2/28/2011" This book is really good and i loved reading it. i like all the strange coincidences, like how all the kids were born on Febuary 29. Very good read. "

— Andrea, 10/17/2010" Young adult Quest book - time travel, which is not my favorite genre, figures heavily. But the characters are fully drawn and the setting - Rome -- is magical. Lots of neat illustrations/photos/visual aids too. Reminds me of the Enid Blyton books of my childhood - intrepid kids, absent parents. "
— Lydia, 8/15/2010P. D. Baccalario was born in Acqui Terme, a beautiful little town in Piedmont, Italy. He now lives in Milan.
