Peter Tyler seems to have it all–a beautiful and accomplished wife, a high-powered Wall Street career, a sprawling house in the suburbs. But beneath this perfect surface, things are not what they seem. Haunted by an unhappy childhood, Peter drifts from his wife and her ideal of family life, and eventually seeks solace in a one-night stand. Before Peter can fully come to grips with what he’s done, his house is broken into and his wife brutally murdered. When the police discover that a mysterious package from Peter’s best friend, Andrei, is the only thing missing, they rule out random robbery. And when they discover Peter’s infidelity–combined with his refusal to reveal the identity of his lover–he becomes their prime suspect. To complete the nightmare, Andrei has disappeared without a trace. Forced to run, Peter will have to question everything he has ever believed as he struggles to unravel the truth before the police catch up with him. Along the way he’ll encounter embittered, conniving foes and a spectacular act of revenge that will take your breath away. Whip-smart and adrenaline-fueled, this is an audiobook you won’t be able to stop listening to until you know everything.

"I liked this book more for its mastery of English - the author was unafraid of using complex words, something that is mostly avoided today. So for that I'm giving the book 4 stars... the mystery was ok, unique idea with the missing Nazi art, but nothing phenomenal. "

— Jim, 8/9/2010" A Wall Street power broker's wife is murdered in their home and, of course, he is the primary suspect. He is fired and then concentrates on finding the real perp. It's a long, tough, winding road. This is Vance's debut. I will look for his next one.
"
— Chuck, 6/24/2010" Excellent book! Really kept me interested. The only thing I struggled with was some of the technical things as far as bonds and securities, but it was very well done! "
— Tracy, 4/27/2010" Audiobook
Ack! I have been striking out with the autiobooks lately ;-( "
— Angie, 4/20/2010" Got a little convoluted towards the end. Was hoping it would focus of the Markets aspect more than it did. Good thriller though. "
— William, 2/6/2010" Vance used to work for Goldman Sachs. This is a fast-pace book. I know I didn't understand some of the stock transactions, but I got the idea of what was happening. I enjoyed the twists. Excellent first novel. "
— Mary, 3/23/2009" This is a good "who done it?" with lots of twists in the plot. Too bad it's his first book, I'd like to read more- hope he keeps writing "
— Chris, 2/11/2009" It was OK I dont really care for the authors style of writing. Over all tho the story was decent. "
— Victoria, 2/2/2009" Twists and turns from start to finish. I read 1/2 of the book in one sitting. "
— Eileen, 11/4/2008" Murder, Wall Street, drug companies and Russian mobsters-what more can you ask for in a mystery? Of course, I was reading this while watching the Red Sox-Tampa Game. "
— Pmcdnld2, 10/19/2008" A fun, light airport read. Vance puts together some good wall street characters and really gives you a feel for the culture. A scheme in the end that I didn't see coming. "
— Brian, 10/12/2008" Surprisingly professional first novel. Good plot twists and believeable characters. Enjoyed it greatly. "
