Publisher Description

You don't have to be a hunter or camper to enjoy this collection of hilarious stories by a writer who is often compared to Mark Twain and Garrison Keillor. In fact, the charm of Patrick F. McManus' work is that it provides plenty of reasons for staying indoors, surrounded by friendly appliances.

You'll laugh aloud as McManus and his friends, including Rancid and Crazy Eddie, venture into the great outdoors to face formidable foes like truck campers, tackle boxes, and boat engines. Digging into his vast knapsack of anecdotes, McManus offers them as guides for the bumpier trails of life.

Although his stories are wacky, McManus never resorts to profanity or crudity, even when he is considering Teenagers from Hell or Strange Meets Matilda Jean. Narrator Norman Dietz perfectly captures the baffled lunacy that characterizes these reminiscences and quests for the sportsman's perfect moment.

"Patrick McManus is one of my absolute fave authors of all times. Normally I'm not into "outdoorsy" stuff, like fishing, hunting, and camping, but these stories are great! XD Each book is a compilation of humorous stories about the great outdoors. Some of the stories are from McManus's childhood, while some are from the present. McManus gets lost in, grouches at, runs away from, and lectures about, all things outdoorsman-like. I can't get enough of these lol books!!"

" I confess, I haven't read this book in years. But McManus is one of the funniest short story writers out there. And he happend to have grown up in Salmon, Idaho. He has numerous books. If you need a lift in these bad times, go pick up one of his books. The earlier ones, like this one, are funniest. "
