"This was a good romance with a mystery to solve. I really enjoyed going along with these characters at opposing sides and seeing them work it out together. The characters were lovely and I truly wanted everything to work out in the end for them. This was an easy read but well worth the time."
— Cheryl (4 out of 5 stars)
" Interesting plot with hints of mystery and scandal -- unlike many others in the genre in that the heroine is the daughter of a gentleman, but not nobility. Decent writing, and no specific problems, though not terribly memorable; earns 4 stars. "
— Nora, 2/4/2014" A story you don't want to put down until you finish. I'm ready for the next ones in the series. "
— Debra, 1/8/2014" This a sweet love story. It was full of honor and loyalty of family and friends. "
— Karen, 12/16/2013" Stilted writing and a heroine with a mild case of TSTL (Too Stupid To Live). Did not finish. "
— Grace, 9/26/2013" I almost feel guilty when I enjoy a trashy romance novel, but there were a couple in the last month that I actually felt compelled to continue reading the series. This was one of them. "
— Liza, 9/25/2013" The prose could get awfully cheesy during the romantic scenes, but the overall story was very good. "
— Rebecca, 6/27/2013" Ok, will still read, but not as good as some others. "
— Pmcpmd, 6/27/2013" My first Madeline Hunter. It definitely won't be my last! "
— Alleyne, 5/15/2013" As with the other books in this series, this book contains a hero who is hard to love. Hunter's heroes are high-handed and not very lovable. The mystery plot kept me reading til the end, but I found myself skimming quite a bit. It just didn't suck me in. "
— Lindsay, 4/21/2012" This book was really good. Very well written. The characters were very well developed. I like book series and will enjoy reading about each of the characters in their own stories. "
— Ilka, 7/20/2011" Books was overly long. Relationship constantly compared to a sore. Gross. Characters were flat and unbelievable. "
— Lydia, 7/2/2011" It fills a need to read fluff. I love romance but they tend to follow the same routine and stories are basic and not too much detail. I would like a better story. "
— Julie, 5/24/2011" Wonderful read..... loved the characters and they storyline.... already have read one other in this series and have the other two... looking forward to them! "
— Marti, 5/14/2011" My first Madeline Hunter. It definitely won't be my last! "
— Alleyne, 3/17/2011" It has been a long while (in my world) since I've read a solid 5 star, can't put this down book. Madeline Hunter reminds me of why I fell in love with reading romance, especially historical romance. Can't wait to dig into book 2. "
— Regan, 3/16/2011" A story you don't want to put down until you finish. I'm ready for the next ones in the series. "
— Debra, 2/27/2011" This was beautifully, beautifully done, enough that I'm going to search out the others in the series, in order. And that never happens.<br/>I also really appreciated that the hero's name was Summerhays, and not, say, Darkmoor or Ravenscroft or Lord knows what other silly brooding thing. "
— Sara, 2/25/2011" Solid 3.5 stars. It would have been 4, but the audio version kept cuitting off the last sentences of each chapter. Very frustrating! "
— Kari, 12/29/2010" Start of a new series. Enjoyed it. Couldn't put it down. "
