Pride and Prejudice is a masterpiece of wit and perception, ridiculing the superficial manners of Jane Austen’s time. But it is more than just social satire. Notice, in particular, how the author’s close attention to detail makes the events and characters so true to life. Above all, enjoy the story—its sheer narrative force and humor—and enter a world of snobbery, romance, and uncertainty, in which people behave casually, indifferently or even cruelly—in short just like people behave everywhere in the world today.

"It feels strange to give 5 stars to a book, but this is book is an exception. At first I Thought the story will be boring, but it's quite good, and I'm glad I read it. The narration is smart, although it's quite boring for me. The story is not very complicated either, but I love the way Jane chose the personality for each characters. I especially amused by the personalities of the main character (Elizabeth). She is a smart young woman, a character that's really hard to find in today's novel. Anyway, considering the era when this book was written, the story is wonderfully told, beautifully said, and strangely, amusing."

" My absolute favorite and one that I connect with and wish men were still honorable and admired true personality and soul. Ah, this is romance! "
— Sally, 2/18/2014" This book is amazing. I love you Mr. Darcy. "
— Kady, 2/14/2014" Weird one for me to like, but won't lie. I liked it. "
— Jason, 2/10/2014" Aside from Austen's blatant abuse of pronouns, which forced me to re-read several passages to discover which "she" or "he" was speaking, this is one of the most engaging romances ever written. With just enough scandal to keep you interested. "
— Angel, 2/8/2014" Jane Austen writes uniquely, definitely one of my favorite classic writers. Pride and Prejudice is probably one of the best books ever written of all time. "
— Pam, 1/31/2014" One of the book of my life so far "
— Gomboca, 1/28/2014" It's Lizzy Bennet and Darcy - you don't need my review to convince you to read it. Get off the computer and go read it now. "
— Elisabeth, 1/27/2014" This is the book (along with Wuthering Heights) that has really awakened an interest in the classics for me. I did not expect to enjoy this at all and saw it more as a challenge. I was knocked out by it - hooked. And I must confess it even produced a tear or two. Shocking! "
— Rob, 1/27/2014" I re-read this book every two year and every time i notice something new about this book. love it. "
— Kristina, 1/23/2014" I am such a sucker for love in all of it's power. I am also very odd when it comes to "the classics" and what I am told I am supposed to adore. I find I am usually 50/50. Well chalk this gorgeous book up to the winning side. Adored. "
— Angela, 1/22/2014" I have read this book 4 times and enjoy it more each time! "
— Astewart, 1/10/2014Jane Austen (1775–1817) is considered by many scholars to be the first great woman novelist. Born in Steventon, England, she later moved to Bath and began to write for her own and her family’s amusement. Her novels, set in her own English countryside, depict the daily lives of provincial middle-class families with wry observation, a delicate irony, and a good-humored wit.
