" Nice collection of fantasy/horror short stories. Some are better than others. Reminded me of the Firebird collections. I particularly enjoyed the title story, "Pretty Monsters." Meanings of "pretty monsters" abound, and the story keeps the reader guessing. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Heather | 2/8/2014

" Kelly Link is my favorite author right now. I'd read several of the stories in this collection before, but the ones that were new to me were great - ranging from really creepy to strange and magical. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Ann | 12/9/2013

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Jason | 12/3/2013

" This collection includes some stories you have read if you are a Kelly Link fan (and you should be), and the ones that you have not read are geared toward young adults. That matters not a whit; they are very, very good. "Little Monsters", which closes out the collection, would make a great movie. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Ruth | 11/26/2013

" Not for the feint of heart, some of these stories are disturbing. High school and up. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Charlou Lunsford | 9/4/2013

" Not quite just fantasy, or sci fi or horror, this collection of short stories was fun because they were so different. Can't say that I liked all of them or even know what happened in all of them, but they kept me engaged. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Rebecca | 8/25/2013

" I love Kelly Links stories, creepy and dry but also touching. Many of the stories in this collection were repeats from her earlier books, but well worth reading again. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kean Soo | 8/13/2012

" A little disappointed by a couple of the stories and the fact that there is some overlap with her previous collections. But still, any excuse to re-read "The Faery Handbag" (probably one of my all-time favourite stories) is a good excuse. :) "
