"I never knew that such a thing as a polar shift existed until I read this book. What with the giant whirl pool inside from which Dirk saved Paul and Gamay Trout an the antics of the whales and the Kovacs theorems that held the power to destroy the world...........this is a book worth reading."
— Jebin (5 out of 5 stars)
" First time I listened to this on CD. 2nd time I read the book. I like the story. The concept of polar shifts. I like the inclusion of mammoths. "
— April, 2/2/2014" this fiction could be a reality in no time...:-I "
— Jaroslav, 1/28/2014" I liked this one because it taught me just a little bit about the history and science of polar shifts. "
— Michele, 1/27/2014" Cussler is almost always a good read. This was no exception -- there is the usual lunatic who is going to destroy or conquer the world. Of course Austin saves the day and gets the girl and what would a Cussler book be without a car chase. Just a fun easy read. "
— Peggy, 1/14/2014" I enjoyed this book, it was a fun adventure story with great characters that were bright and hard working. Although the science was probably not accurate, it made for a fun and scary "what if" scenario with lots of plot twists, but not enough to distract from the main story and woven together nicely to provide a satisfying ending. "
— Sarah, 1/12/2014" Very Cussler in style. Science-laden (or inspired) manly action, science heroes saving the world, and beautiful ladies. What else would you want? Some evil criminals who want to reverse Earth's polarity with insane plans... outrageous action sort of like Robert Ludlum, but way more action and science oriented than Ludlum (which would be more super evil and conspiracy oriented). Cheesy? Perhaps, as a genre, the same way James Bond would be. But just the type of read I enjoy at pool, or for a holiday. Very good for that genre and need, 3,5 stars. "
— Anna, 12/8/2013" This is the book that got me reading. Never finished a book till I picked this up on the way back from holiday and the rest of the books are history. "
— Craig, 12/3/2013" The book is entertaining because it's an adventure/thriller but like I've read before in reviews about Cussler, once you've read one of his books, you've read them all. This one in particular had an extremely low credibility factor and a really flimsy plot "
— Ricardo, 10/31/2013" Action packed and a fun read. "
— Pam, 10/26/2013" This is a white knuckle story, very fun! "
— Chris, 10/16/2013" It was enjoyable, but not as much as other Cussler works. Also - the plot and storyline are kinda out there. "
