Lance is a former weatherman, now a buff yogi and stay-at-home dad. Belle is his precocious and quick-witted daughter. Darlene is a classic Type A work-a-holic; she has little time or patience for the needs of her husband and daughter. And just down the street are Alec and Wren. Alec, a womanizing businessman, is also the financial backer - and sometimes more - behind Darlene's burgeoning empire. Meanwhile, Wren is a talented yogi, ready to lay down the mat for a quick session with Lance.

As looming Santa Ana winds threaten to turn brushfires into catastrophe, Playdate proves that relationships are complicated and what happens next door, beyond the hedges, in the executive office - it's all as combustible as a quick brushfire on a windy day.

" The book had no story line, horrible!!! All i got out of it is that the author likes sex! Way to ruin a teens mind even more, i lost a couple brain cells... "

" Are Belle and Sam 10 or 26? I know kids can be precocious but jeez haha. I thought it was a decent book, did make me laugh out loud a few times, although did not care at all for the theme of cheating, even if it is "tantric" the character has trouble deciding if its really betrayal to his family. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jane | 1/3/2014

" Loved the characters, liked the writing, liked the setting, liked the plot, hated the extremely casual adultery which was treated like some kind of social norm. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Joanne | 12/28/2013

" If you like precocious children and their unfaithful parents, this book is for you. "

" This book was just OK for me. It dealt with modern day issues between husbands and wives and raising children, but the story line wasn't very interesting. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Paula Bomer | 11/16/2013

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Raimi | 11/9/2013

" I would actually give this a 2.5. It was an easy, light read. Not a fan of affairs at all but I did like how the book ended. Loved the relationship between the Father and Daughter...every daughter deserves that type of relationship with their Father. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sheila | 11/8/2013

" I can't fairly review this book because I couldn't get past the names of the characters, which I hated. It kept me from ever getting into the story. You will have to decide for yourself if this who is cheating on who book is for you. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Christy Blevins | 11/7/2013

" I'm sorry but I just couldn't get into this book at all. I really tried but I just couldn't. I am going to put it in my bookshelf and try again later. :( "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Nettle | 9/26/2013

" Unpleasant characters about whom I don't really give a fig making bad decisions, but yes, I will agree that the book is sharply witty. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Sam | 7/3/2013

" I thought this looked like a light beach read but it was so much more than that. It was thought-provoking (about marriage, parenting, suburbia), funny, and farcical. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Hollie | 6/1/2013

" This was a fun, quick read. I really liked it! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jen | 10/15/2012

" A decent beach/summer read. A cheating spouse, tough marriage, kind of story with a little bit of a deeper theme of defining yourself by what you do, rather than who you are. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Stephanie | 7/27/2012

" I read it, quickly. Was there much plot? No. Was it interesting? Eh. Predictable, but was is truly sad is that the existance of a true marriage is a rare find. It may be fiction but it still hits hard. Bleck. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Terry Perrel | 3/28/2012

" MId-life yuppie chick lit that is better than average. A fun, quick-paced beach book. "
