One fateful afternoon, he steals a box from a mysterious traveling haberdasher—a box that contains three pairs of magical eyes. When he tries the first pair, he is instantly transported to a hidden island where he is presented with a special quest: to travel to the dangerous Vanished Kingdom and rescue a people in need. Along with his loyal sidekick—a knight who has been turned into an unfortunate combination of horse and cat—and the magic eyes, he embarks on an unforgettable, swashbuckling adventure to discover his true destiny.

“Jonathan Auxier’s strange and inventive debut, Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes, is a beautiful adventure told in a dashing and assured voice. It’s Little Nemo in Slumberland meets Oliver Twist. I enjoyed it tremendously.” —Audrey Niffenegger, author of the bestseller The Time Traveler’s Wife

" Great book. Adventure, mysteries and battles. Excitement, friendship and betrayal. Peter Nimble will make you cheer out loud and wish for a second book. I have found my recommendation for those who miss Harry Potter. "

" This is fantasy for children...but it was pretty harsh and violent. The story left a lot to be desired, some things were never explained as if the author couldn't be bothered. It was very strange. I liked the title better than the book! "

" i just dont know what age this would be ok for? the main character has his eyes pecked out and multiple fights with intense subject matter. but it was a light, easy read! good plot and nice touch of "fantasy" since the "magic" was just science. but idk if parents would approve. (although by looking at it youd never guess it was so gorey) i think the typical teenager wont be offset by the violence and just take it in stride and not let it take away from the story. "

" Creative, fun, a little predictable, old-fashioned fantasy derring-do... I would have liked peg to be a bit stronger... Also middle is a bit slow, and end a bit brutally violent. Solid read. "
