" I really loved this book. Not only was the whole story plausible but I liked how the author used a work of fiction to dress up a survival manual and supply checklist. It really helped me to see where the holes were in my plans and even helped me decide what things I needed to buy. The one thing that is not easy to find however is a group of sober individuals and a place to retreat to. I trust in God that he will help those who have done all they can to be prepared, especially families, if it is his will that they remain during the difficult days ahead. "

" For me there was too much religious reference for god this and the lord that. You'd think the lord did everything so why were we reading the book from a humans perspective. He had a couple good points but then they'd pray, it got to be a bit much. I can't figure out how they got anything done with all the praying. "

" Basically a survivalist manifesto - what to do to survive an apocalyptic event - with a little bit of story wrapped around the details of which guns to purchase, how to gird your house with shutters and extra thick doors, etc. Mr Rawles seems to know his stuff, and has actually written a survival manual, which no doubt is great (I haven't read it). But as far as stories go, this one wasn't well written. The characters are caricatures, the detail is tedious, and the moral of the story seems to be that Americans should never lose the right to bear arms because guns will ensure their survival if society breaks down.
