Publisher Description

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city. As hordes of refugees and looters pour out of the cities, a small group of friends living in the Midwest desperately try to make their way to a safe-haven ranch in northern Idaho. The journey requires all their skill and training since communication, commerce, transportation and law enforcement have all disappeared. Once at the ranch, the group fends off vicious attacks from outsiders and then looks to join other groups that are trying to restore true Constitutional law to the country. Patriots is a thrilling narrative depicting fictional characters using authentic survivalist techniques to endure the collapse of American civilization. Listening to this compelling, fast-paced novel could one day mean the difference between life and death.

"This is the first TEOTWAWKI book that I have read. Having read some of the other reviews of the book I do agreed with some of the comments but although I thought of these points whilst I was reading they did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. I was sucked into the story finding myself thinking of ways that I would improve their situation with my rudimentary survival skills and knowledge of self-sufficiency. Not being a gun enthusiast and only having an interest in guns I did find the technical descriptions of guns a little over my head but I did learn something from the book. I enjoyed the whole premise of socio-economic collapse and have since read some articles showing just how easily this scenario could happen. Once I had finished the book I did think that the author could have said so much more and further developed the story and characters but perhaps this would have made the book too long."

" I really enjoyed the non-fiction elements of this book but the story and characters made me cringe at some parts. A lot if interesting content, but packaged with sub par storytelling. "

" I really loved this book. Not only was the whole story plausible but I liked how the author used a work of fiction to dress up a survival manual and supply checklist. It really helped me to see where the holes were in my plans and even helped me decide what things I needed to buy. The one thing that is not easy to find however is a group of sober individuals and a place to retreat to. I trust in God that he will help those who have done all they can to be prepared, especially families, if it is his will that they remain during the difficult days ahead. "

" For me there was too much religious reference for god this and the lord that. You'd think the lord did everything so why were we reading the book from a humans perspective. He had a couple good points but then they'd pray, it got to be a bit much. I can't figure out how they got anything done with all the praying. "

" Basically a survivalist manifesto - what to do to survive an apocalyptic event - with a little bit of story wrapped around the details of which guns to purchase, how to gird your house with shutters and extra thick doors, etc. Mr Rawles seems to know his stuff, and has actually written a survival manual, which no doubt is great (I haven't read it). But as far as stories go, this one wasn't well written. The characters are caricatures, the detail is tedious, and the moral of the story seems to be that Americans should never lose the right to bear arms because guns will ensure their survival if society breaks down.
