Publisher Description

A passionate, sweeping novel of a love that transcends time. When twenty-something Wall Street analyst Kate Wilson attracts the notice of the legendary Julian Laurence at a business meeting, no one’s more surprised than she is. Julian’s relentless energy and his extraordinary intellect electrify her, but she’s baffled by his sudden interest. Why would this handsome British billionaire—Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor—pursue a pretty but bookish young banker who hasn’t had a boyfriend since college?

The answer is beyond imagining . . . at least at first. Kate and Julian’s story may have begun not in the moneyed world of twenty-first-century Manhattan but in France during World War I, when a mysterious American woman emerged from the shadows of the Western Front to save the life of Captain Julian Laurence Ashford, a celebrated war poet and infantry officer. Now, in modern-day New York, Kate and Julian must protect themselves from the secrets of the past, and trust in a true love that transcends time and space.

"Enjoyed this book overall but I found the first half of the book to be much more interesting than the second half.... found the second half to be a bit confusing and think the romance aspect was a bit overdone and repetitive. I do think that Overseas was very well written, and even more so, considering it is the author's first novel. I actually would give this novel three and a half stars if I were able. I would recommend this book, especially to those who enjoy reading about time travel."

Quotes

  • “Irresistible. A memorable story of a timeless love.”

    — Karen White, New York Times bestselling author of The Beach Trees
  • “A delicious story about the ultimate romantic fantasy: love that not only triumphs over time and common sense, but, once Kate overcomes Julian’s WWI-era ideas about honor, includes mind-blowing sex.”

    — Publishers Weekly (starred review)
  • “An engaging romantic debut…Williams’ terrific premise proves…her gift for humor, snappy dialogue, and swooning romance, there’s plenty to enjoy and the promise of more enjoyable escapism to come in future work.”

" This book was a pleasant surprise. I honestly thought I wouldn't like it or else I'd just be bored. But that was not the case. It took me no time at all to be sucked into Julian and Kate's story. Their romance was so breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time. I think this is a love story that many different age groups can appreciate and enjoy. "

" I enjoyed reading this book. I thought the author used foreshadowing effectively, giving away some of the clues, but not to a point where I knew exactly, for sure, what was going to happen. It is a quick read. "

" If you want something fun and light, but also unique this is the love story for you. It has everything from time travel to wall street. It probably won't be the best book you've ever read, but I think most people will enjoy it. "
