A tough, bloodthirsty warrior, Robin is more feared than any man in the county. And he becomes a mentor for Alan; with his fellow outlaws, Robin teaches Alan how to fight - and how to win.

But Robin is a ruthless man - and although he is Alan's protector, if Alan displeases him, he could also just as easily become his murderer....

"I found this version of the Robin Hood story to be utterly compelling and entertaining. The story is raw, completely different from the romantic productions that are constantly churned out, and Angus Donald transported me to the dark, dirty and savage times in which this book is set. If you want a refreshing and vigorous read on a washed out traditinal tale and from a completely different viewpoint ( the young Alan Dale) , then this is a must for you. Brilliant read!"

" I liked this book but I'm a sucker for a historical fiction. This Robin was more of the political animal, but I found it believable - it could have happened that way. Of course, you can take a lot of leeway when nothing much is known about the real man, if there was such an animal. Liked the way that the myth was woven into the story - will look for the 2nd in the series and maybe read it sometime. "

" This was a story of Robin Hood with Alan Dale as the storyteller. There is violence, cruelty, and destruction but in an amount I can handle. Robin is no saint but is a character that might have been the "real" Robin. "

" Not the best book I've ever read, really disappointed by this one, especially hated main Marion in this story as I found her to be really wet. So many other great books out there and there's no way I'll be reading the rest of the series! "

" Surprisingly good story-telling of such an oft-told tale. Enjoyed the book and will read the next, crusade adventure. "

" This was a very differernt story of Robin Hood. It shows where he came from and why he was so good at what he did. It is a shame he has been lost to history. "

" I enjoyed the story overall. I liked the narrator's character. But it didn't interest me enough to continue with the series. "

" This is a very clever take on the Robin Hood story. It stays true to the era in which Robin Hood would have really lived. "

" A great history novel filled with action and detail into an era which needs to be better understood. Novels like this and writers like Donald help unwrap an important time period, and enable a reader to appreciate the lives of people and the complexities of individual perspective. "
