"LOOK AT ME. LOOK AT THE ORC."
"There is fear and hatred in your eyes. To you I am a monster, a skulker in the shadows, a fiend to scare your children with. A creature to be hunted down and slaughtered llike a beast in the fields.
"It is time you pay heed to the beast. And see the beast in yourself. I have your fear. But I have earned your respect.
"Hear my story. Feel the flow of blood and be thankful. Thankful that it was me, not you, who bore the sword. Thankful to the Orcs: born to fight, destined to win peace for all."
Combining the international bestselling trilogy—Bodyguard of Lightning, Legion of Thunder, and Warriors of the Tempest—plus a new short story previously available only in a small-press anthology, Orcs presents the entire story of Stryke and his band of Orcs. A fast-moving, action-packed, tongue-in-cheek saga of Orc valor and human treachery.

"i love the idea of orcs as the good guys. the stories are great, the writing is good. anyone who likes a twist on adventure fantasy should definitely read these books. i can't wait for the next one to come out! "
— Marissa (5 out of 5 stars)
A wonderful piece of storytelling.... Underlying all the fun and games is a core of skillfully drawn, fully realized characters who engage your sympathy from the start and never let go.
— Tom Holt, author of Snow White and the Seven Samurai" Wow. Just wow. I picked this up hardback for four bucks and I'm glad I didn't pay any more for it. Now I want my time back. I don't think I would have read the whole thing had I not been on a plane with nothing else in my bag. Reading the entire thing wasn't miserable in and of itself, but the ending was shockingly bad. I'm thinking a teacher assigned the book to him, he kept writing, and ten pages before he hit the limit he realized that he better wrap things up. I don't see that anyone end a book like that on purpose... "
— Adam, 2/7/2014" This is a very fun book, but it takes some time to get to the story. If you like lord of the rings or world of warcraft video game, then you would like this book "
— Michael, 1/28/2014" Although the title and premise seemed interesting I couldn't finish the first chapter. On top of a lackluster writing style, I simply couldn't empathize with a character who relishes killing and is driven by a mix of animal instinct and sadism. "
— Ravenna, 1/26/2014" This was one of the few books that I actually bought. The local library didn't have a copy and now I know why. Now I know why. "
— Elizabeth7218, 1/24/2014" i quite enjoyed this one. a new twist on the orc, as them being the hero. very nice change. "
— Don, 1/23/2014" If you like violent fantasy books, this is the one for you. It takes Orcs, who are most notable from Tolkien's LOTR triology, and makes them likable, but still incredibly dangerous creatures. "
— Heath, 1/12/2014" Was very fun right till the end... felt rushed & like he was on a tight deadline. I hate that. "
— Benjamin, 1/12/2014" Kinda weird so far even for my tastes. But it's an interesting view for the Orcs perspective. Took me a bit to get into but I like it Its like Lord of the Rings with the good guys being Orcs. "
— Jeanine, 12/29/2013" Yeah, not into unicorn horn dildo orc porn. Try again. "
— Grack21, 12/24/2013" I somehow made it to the end but I need not have bothered. "
— Simon, 12/22/2013" Violent and cliche. I can usually handle one or the other, but not both. A shame, really, as this would have been fantastic if it had actually delved into a bit of Orc psychology... "
— Jenny, 11/27/2013" If you like an alternate spin on the orcs, this is the novel for those who like fantasy. "
— Samuel, 10/30/2013" Just not very good all around. Boring characters, one-dimensional villains, and no motivations for why the Orcs are running around doing what they are doing. "
— Michael, 5/17/2013" Horrible, humorless, and tired - in its story, characters, world, dialogue, moralism. "
— Tim, 3/8/2013" So mediocre it hurts. I probably would have enjoyed this series much more 10 years ago, but now it's just too much of a basic fantasy novel (with a twist! *yawn*) to really be interested. Boring characters, boring plot, grade-school-level humor...no thanks. "
— Kelly, 12/1/2012" ORCS = Blood and action "
— edifanob, 11/2/2012" okay I finished the first book w/in the trilogy. It's really not that well written and I'm trying to let it go instead of reading it compulsively. Usually I have to finish a book, but today I take a stand! There's more out there that I want to read. Goodbye, Orcs! "
— Melissa, 7/21/2012" I was in the middle of this book when Turn Coat came out. I dropped this like a hot rock to finish Turn Coat. It is starting to feel like durgery to finish this. "
— Ed, 12/23/2011" Kind of like Grunts! only without all the high tech weapons and lewd humor. Orcs is a more serious look at orcish culture and the day-to-day business of being a minion. "
— Owen, 10/1/2011" Excellent. Rivetting. Will read again & give more details as its been a while since I read it. "
— Damian, 7/4/2011" I got about two chapters in and just didn't want to finish it. Yuck. Gross. Don't bother. "
— Jeff, 5/8/2011" Yeah, not into unicorn horn dildo orc porn. Try again. "
— Grack21, 5/2/2011" It was really good and had a suprising twist near the end of it, definitley worth reading. "
— Josh, 2/21/2011" Another wannabe Tolkien writer. I should not look a gift horse in the mouth, but this was all battle and very thin on the story line. "
— Guido, 2/19/2011" Good read with strong Character development. The story was simple and seemed to be away of introducing the idea of orcs as reluctant and strange hero's "
