Publisher Description

“Move over, hockey romance fans.  There’s a new game in town.  Jamie Harrow’s debut novel sails through the net with the perfect blend of romance, spice, and a healthy dollop of a serious issue that bears addressing.”—Jodi Picoult, #1 New York Times bestselling author

They call it March Madness for a reason: Anything can happen on the way to a national championship.

Eight years after graduation, Annie Radford is not happy to be back at her alma mater in her old job with the Ardwyn Tigers’ basketball team. Worse, her coworker from back in college, Ben Callahan, is still on the Tigers staff, and he’s annoyingly wholesome, hot, and clinging to a grudge against Annie for abandoning him and the team their senior year.

But as Ardwyn becomes the season’s Cinderella Story, things start heating up between Annie and Ben, too. And while neither of them can deny this could be something special, Annie’s afraid to tell Ben the truth about why she left basketball—the thing she loves most—in the first place. She’ll have to learn to trust him if they have a shot at being together.

In addition to being funny, romantic, and sexy, One on One examines the pressure put on college athletes, challenges the sexism in the world of sports, and exposes the dangers in whole communities idolizing the big men on campus.

For readers of The Hating Game and The Ex Talk, a workplace, enemies-to-lovers debut for anyone yearning for a courtside romance, perfect for anyone who can’t get enough sports rom-coms.

"In her absorbing debut novel, Jamie Harrow has crafted a moving journey about following your dreams, falling in love, and the power of finding your voice. When Annie returns to her alma mater's basketball program as a video producer, it feels like a last resort. What she discovers is an opportunity to rekindle a sweeping romance, redefine her legacy, and rewrite the ending of her own collegiate athletic chapter. As enthralling, captivating, and addicting as the very best basketball games, with sparkling cinematic moments worthy of one of Annie’s own electrifying sizzle reels, One on One is a total slam dunk. I couldn’t put this down!"

  • Jamie Harrow's One on One is such a sweet, sexy, and deeply sincere debut. It's a book all about showing up, whether on the basketball court, for the person you love, or for yourself. It made me feel all the expansive heart-thumping feelings -- the anticipatory tension of setting up a free throw, the surge of adrenaline from a game-winning buzzer beater, the absolute power of a first kiss when you can tell it means something. I know I'll be thinking about this book for a long time!

  • Forgive me in advance, because I will be shouting about my love for One on One until my voice gives out. In her stunning debut, Jamie Harrow paints the game of basketball in a way that feels like life and love itself—in moments of struggle and perseverance, in breathtaking joy and heartbreak that gets beautifully repaired. Ben and Annie are so fully explored that they are now real people to me, and their love story unfolds with perfect tension and tenderness. A new all-time favorite.

  • One on One is a perfect balance of the magic and the heartbreak that come alongside loving a sport—the way these teams and institutions shape and carry us, the ways they often fail us, and the difficulty of holding both sides at once. With quiet humor, a patient slow burn, and immense tenderness for Annie, Ben, and the team that brings them together, Harrow’s debut is a beautiful ode to falling into trust and love in equal measure, and to taking up hard-won space.

  • The high-stakes world of college basketball provides a fun backdrop, and the author does a fine job dealing with sensitive and topical issues, including sexual misconduct and the abuse of power. Harrow should win plenty of fans.
