If Mama were here, everything would still be right. Or at least not as bad wrong as it had become. But Mama was dead, and Papa was gone, her brother and sisters scattered. And she was here…

Mary Bridget Washburn was tired of running, tired of being haunted by the empty shell her life had become. How in the world did the little girl she’d once been now become a woman on the wrong side of the law? Determined to make a new start, she escapes to the quaint city of Alexandria, Virginia, where she takes on her mother’s identity and finds sanctuary in the shadow of a decades-old church. But a little girl’s plea proves her undoing, and the Reverend…well, someone’s got to open his eyes before disaster comes calling. Can Mary Bridget hide her tainted past long enough to bring hope to a family falling apart?

" Wow! What a moving read! The story of a young, beautiful woman drawn into a world of drugs and her continual journey through life. God never leaves her and sends people to help her find herself back to His waiting arms and while were at it, help the reverend with his secrets and bring him back to the fold as well. Beautiful story of redemption! "

" I didn't realize I was reading a book that was considered Christian Lit. It's too bad that the category might limit its audience because it is a fabulous story of humanity. It's for everyone. "

" Good overall. When it started talking about Alsaider and his family, I thought wait, isn't this book about the girl? Then they intermingled. The ending they had to tell how every character ended. I thought just end already, but then I was tired, way past bed time. I read in 5 days, so it was good! "

" Again-- another book I remember being totally immersed in when I read it, but that I cannot remember the plot. I picked up a copy of Hellenga's The Fall of the Sparrow thinking it was the same book and I'd re-read it, but it wasn't, so I didn't. "

" Two desperate people- One with all the answers & One with none at all. This is the story about a young woman named Mary B. Washburn & how her life became an empty shell as her family fell apart. Can she make a new start? Can she leave her tainted past behind her long enough to bring hope to another family? This book seemed a little wierd to me at first but once I got into it, it was hard to put down! Linda weaves a lot of lessons & teachings of truth through-out this book & that is one thing I really liked about it. I could almost see myself in Mary in some of the things she went through. However, let me warn you that this book is more for mature readers because there is drug use involved and several of the characters go to prison etc... "

" I really liked this book, though it wasn't what I was expecting after I read the inside cover. It was pretty predictable where the book was going in parts of it, but usually I didn't know until they were pretty close to happening. All in all I really enjoyed this book. "

" I was pleasantly surprised - Christian Lit. usually doesn't have much substance or plot - too heavy on scripture, etc. But this was okay, they didn't lay it on too thick. It really was a nice story - I might even look up some books from this same author. "
