"I read this years ago, probably fifth or sixth grade (I'm in high school now) and before I had heard of either Lord of the Flies or Animal Farm. I was enthralled by this particular book, because I hadn't ever read anything like it. I still remember it very clearly, when most of everything else i read around that age is a vague blur, so I'm taking it as a good sign. I want to read it again, to see how I feel about it now."

" This book is kind of a toned down version of Lord of the Flies. A bioengineered plague is let loose and only children survive. The particular group of children were at a fun park when the plague hits. The story is about how the kid organize themselves and move on after their parents and older siblings all die. It is an interesting idea for a story. I enjoyed the descriptions of the fun park. Overall I thought that the story line was a little lacking in some places, but overall a good read. "

" While this is a book aimed at a young adult audience I really enjoyed it. Maybe I'm going into my second, third, fourth... childhood. The story drew me in. The characters were well developed. and the action moved the story along. Kudos to Ms. Dobkin. "

" This is so much like Gone (with more than a little Kingdom Keepers thrown in) that it's just a disappointing re-read. This time, it's a plague that wipes out the adults, but the same tired plot is being recycled. I have no idea why this particular genre is getting play, but please, enough. "

" This was a little Lord-of-the-Flies-esque. Things always seem fun in the beginning with no rules, but then things fall apart. Interesting take on a kid-ruled world. "

" I was impressed by Neptune's Children. At first blush, it looked to be merely an updating of Lord of the Flies; and perhaps it is. But I enjoyed this one infinitely more than William Golding's work. "
