" Do not buy this, it is grossly inaccurate. The book was written in 2002-2004 and not revised since 2008. The more egregious errors are the result of ignorance of Nepali culture. My personal favorite is the statement "Women are imprisoned for abortion". Abortion has been free and legal in Nepal since 2000.
She makes culturally biased statements about women. Ms. Feller was the dependent of an foreign aid worker in Nepal, many of whom fantasize that women are slaves in their host cultures. She repeats and repeats the factoid that infertility is grounds for divorce, which is only partially correct. She quotes WHO/UNICEF reports without giving dates, and her statistics on women's education are completely wrong. She has clearly never eaten in a Nepali household, but believed every word her husband heard from his expat buddies, and states "the women eat the leftovers". Ignorant and untrue. No stars. "
