Publisher Description

Neil Flambé is a 14-year-old wunderchef. He can cook anything, and he brags that he can cook it better than anyone else. He`s cocky, but he may also be right. Patrons pay top dollar and wait months for reservations at his tiny, boutique restaurant. What many of Neil's patrons don't know is that he's also a budding detective. It all started when he used his knowledge of cooking and his incredible sense of smell to acquit his mother's client of murder. Ever since, Police Inspector Sean Nakamura has relied on Neil to help him crack case after case. Now, the city's crime scene has taken a turn for the personal. Some of the best chefs in town are turning up dead.

The cops are stumped; the only real clues are a mysterious smell and some equally mysterious notes that seem to have something to do with Marco Polo. As more chefs fall prey to the killer, Neil finds himself working not only to solve the murders, but to eliminate himself as the prime suspect!

"This fun mystery is perfect for all those Food Newtork-addicted kids out there. If Gordon Ramsey were a nearly fifteen-year-old with a talent for solving crimes, the young protaganist of this book would be it! A fun read for tweens. "

" This was another 3.5 stars book. It's quite funny and I think it would appeal to tween readers. I identified with the 14-year-old hero despite his annoying personality because I, too, spent my early years copying recipes and wanting to cook! Sadly (or perhaps not), I didn't have a French nanny to give me access to the stove so my genius went unnoticed. ;^) I enjoyed this book enough to read the next offering in the series so I will withhold judgment until the then. " This book was SO boring I read up to about the 11th chapter and got totally board of Neil Flambe. In the first 6 chapters like 4 people die! Who would want to read about that? However I did like all the details Kevin Sylvester gave. It's just the story line that got me to stop reading. I don't know why this is a silver burch book! If you want a good read, read a Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass, seriously this book is SO good! "
