"This is the 14th book in the Gaslight Mystery series. I love the series - great characters, wonderful setting ( New York City at the turn of the century) and always a murder to solve. I am sorry I have to wait a year for the next book to come out. I think next year's book will find Sarah and her detective friend moving forward in their relationship. Can't wait!"

" I am going to have to quit reading this if the relationship between the main characters doesn't grow soon. The mystery is not good enough to hold me to this series...I come back for the development of the characters and there have been too many books where there just isn't any. "

" This was another good one in the series. After 14 books, it's a really credit to the author to keep them entertaining. The characters are evolving and in this one, we get to see more of Sarah's parents - with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end. "

" there is a certain satisfaction in solving the mystery before the detective. But it also makes me wonder if the series is getting too predictable. "

" I love this series. I too, wish that there was more romance. The mysteries are usually fun to follow and it is a quick and good read for me.It is not a deep or life changing book. It is meant to be a fun get a way.I will read the next one as well. "

" My first introduction to the "gaslight" series and I found it delightful. Full of observations of 19th century New York (the city, the attitudes, the mores, the culture) woven into a mystery story with interesting characters. Will definitely read more of the series. "

" Another good one in this Gaslight Series. The "topic" explored in this one was the sexual abuse of women as well as the plight of people who have been scammed in the stock market. The mystery takes front stage, but in each of these books, Thompson weaves in some important issue. Very enjoyable! "

" The mystery is good but I'm so ready for Sarah and Malloy to just admit they're crazy about each other. Hoping that the stuff that happened in this one set that up to start moving faster than the reverse glacial pace it's been stuck at for a while. "
