Publisher Description

Cassie spends her days watching Grandfather and Caleb in the barn, looking out at Papa working the fields, spying on Sarah feeding the goslings. She's an observer, a writer, a storyteller. Everything is as it should be.

But change is inevitable, even on the prairie. Something new is expected, and Sarah says it will be the perfect gift. Cassie isn't so sure. But just as life changes, people change too. And Cassie learns that unexpected surprises can bring great joy.

More Perfect than the Moon invites us back to the Witting family farm, visited in the Newbery Medal-winning Sarah, Plain and Tall; Skylark; and Caleb's Story. With her lyrical prose, Patricia MacLachlan writes about a family's boundless capacity for love.

"This was a great continuation of the Sarah story. It focuses on Cassie and her apprehension at the new baby coming. The beautiful and spare prose of the author's writing is a joy to read and evokes so many emotions. I really love these Sarah books. "

" Sweet and funny. I don't know anyone that had ever had a child respond the way Cassie did, but I suppose some do. "

" Cassie is a sass, and the most disappointing character. She had a very high opinion of herself, and it's too bad her family tolerated her bad behavior. "

" This was a fun book to read with me being pregnant after a gap of many years, just like Sarah in this book. The kids were horrified/amused at all of Cassie's responses to the "terrible baby". Fun read alout with lots of discussion. My kids were entertained by Cassie's highly active imagination. "

" This book was cute. The little girl was so dramatic and imaginative. She was so determined to not like the baby, but when she held it, her stubbornness gave up. She's a little girl with a way with words. I like what she said about her big sister kissing the doctors son! This was a cute story. "
