Six BBC Radio dramatisations of short stories from the master of comedy, P. G. Wodehouse. Mr Mulliner is a pub raconteur with an endless supply of improbable tales featuring his innumerable relations. There is the story of 'Honeysuckle Cottage', haunted by the spirit of a romantic novelist set on forcing marital bliss on the unwilling resident. 'A Slice of Life' also features a spooky old house, plus a young heiress and a determined suitor. 'The Smile that Wins' centres on a dyspeptic detective whose grisly grin is his secret weapon, while 'Open House' is an account of frightening aunts, terrifying ingenues and resourceful butlers. 'Came the Dawn' is a tale of indomitable love, parental obstruction and unexpected opportunities and the final yarn, 'Mulliner's Buck-U-Uppo', tells of a pale curate rendered fearless after the ingestion of a miracle potion. Starring Richard Griffiths as Mr Mulliner.

"Recently I read my first Gordon Korman book on threat of being kicked out of the family. As I was giggling, chortling and laughing explosively out loud while reading "Meet Mr. Mulliner," I realized that P.G. Wodehouse is Gordon Korman for adults!" — Alida (5 out of 5 stars)

" One of Wodehouse's best series. Hilarious! "
" I think this is my favorite book of all time. If I were only allowed to bring one book to the deserted island, this is the book I'd bring. Brilliant. "
" What can I say? The man is hilarious. "
" Cute tall tales from late 20's "
" I love these funny little stories from P.G. Wodehouse - but note, I am a huge fan of Wodehouse; people seem to either like or hate him. "
" This was a quick read but didn't tickle my funnybone like I would have expected. Still willing to give other Wodehouse works a shot. "
" Excellent fun. My first Wodehouse. "
" Wodehousey. Truth About George and Honeysuckle Cottage are the best stories. Honorable mention to Came the Dawn just for the "threnody" scene, though the ending of that story's pretty weak (yo). "
" The first of the Mulliner books and it was terrific! Every story just seemed to get funnier and funnier as I went on. I love it!! "
" Typical Wodehouse shenanigans, featuring several funny tales of the various members of the Mulliner family "
" My mom buys me Wodehouse books (and Maupin too) when I need a laugh. Thanks, Mom. "
" It's Wodehouse. You can't go wrong. Charming, delightful, witty, and engaging. Wodehouse's work is a vintage wine. Uncork the tales of Mr. Mulliner today. You will not be disappointed. "
" All the Mulliner tales are irresistible. "
" Excellent. Finished it in 1980, and then again in 2010. Just fun, always fun. "
" V amusing :) "
" Classic Wodehouse. Adore their style of speaking. "
" Funniest writing ever! "
" A nice collection, not terribly outstanding though. I'd have rated it 3 stars but for the final story, "Honeysuckle Cottage," which is perhaps the best Wodehouse short I've read so far. "
" Wodehouse. "
" Classic Wodehouse! It was my first experience with the Mulliner Series. I actually like this take on a collection of short stories. It certainly makes reading the book easier when each chapter is its own short story. "
Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881–1975) was an English humorist who wrote novels, short stories, plays, poems, song lyrics, and numerous pieces of journalism. He was highly popular throughout a career that lasted more than seventy years, and his many writings continue to be widely read. He is best known for his novels and short stories of Bertie Wooster and his manservant Jeeves and for his settings of English upper-class society of the pre– and post–World War I era. He lived in several countries before settling in the United States after World War II. During the 1920s, he collaborated with Broadway legends like Cole Porter and George Gershwin on musicals and, in the 1930s, expanded his repertoire by writing for motion pictures. He was honored with a knighthood in 1975.
