If you thought your family was strange...

Try being Keira Kelly.

A member of a powerful paranormal family, Keira elected to stay among humans in the Texas Hill Country when the rest of the clan moved (lock, stock, and grimoire) to Canada. But family duty means still having to keep an eye on cousin Marty - a genetic aberration who turned out 100% human, poor guy. And recently Keira's been having violent dreams - or are they visions? - featuring Marty as the victim of a vicious murder.

Something sinister seems to be brewing in little Rio Seco. Can Keira get to the bottom of it all while avoiding entanglement with her former lover, Sheriff Carlton Larson? And what does she plan to do about the irresistible and enigmatic Adam Walker?

When this old friend shows up as the new owner of a local ranch and wants to get better acquainted, Keira is more than happy to be welcoming...until she suspects that Adam could be intimately connected to the dangerous doings in Rio Seco.

"I won Matters of the Blood on a guest blog from the author and I'm so glad I finally got to start her series. It's a paranormal romance with loads of action, suspense, mystery, wit and magic. I can't wait to read the entire series."

" So, I didn't think I liked this one UNTIL i found out it was part of a series. DUH!! Maria keeps you guessing 'till the VERY LAST WORD. All things supernatural in this one. Vampires, werewolves, and... well whatever Kiera is. Vampire or werewolf or human? **scratch your head in confusion here** Now that i KNOW it is a series, I can't WAIT to read the other two and am liking it A LOT more. "

" I went into Matters of the Blood, not expecting to like it. I have no interest in paranormal fiction at all. But I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the characters, the humor was a nice touch, and the story was good! "

" Usually when books have a terrible begining I at least stick through it to find out what happens. Not the case with this book. It sounded interesting but it was a nightmare. "

" What initially caught my attention was deciding what type of paranormal type the main protagonist was. In matters of the blood you find out that she is neither witch, shapeshifter or anything until she goes through the change. Belonging to a super natural paranormal "

" I liked this but it was a bit slow if I hadn't of been listening to it on audiobook I don't know if I would have been able to finish it! But I did and if the rest of the series comes out on audiobook I may continue, because I do want to find out about Kiera's changes! "
