Living in the mountains of western North Carolina in a house with no electricity, no running water, and no close neighbors, the author shares stories of how she and her siblings made their own world with little but creativity.

About Amy Ammons Garza
Amy Ammons Garza is a native of Jackson County, North Carolina. The storyteller in a duo known as the Ammons Sisters, she tells mountain stories while her sister spontaneously illustrates them. The two are cofounders of Catch the Spirit of Appalachia, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping heritage alive through the arts by conducting workshops within the schools.
