"What makes me love Mikhail Bugakov is that even though I was certainly missing almost all of the satire of 1930s Russia and most of the biblical references, I still couldn't put this hilarious book down. Not only that, but when I get to the end, I find out that the manuscript was unfinished, in the sense that Bugakov wasn't able to complete his final revisions before he died. Makes me want to read his other finished work."

" If you want to dive into Russian literature, I would recommend picking this book up first, while not as well known as Dostoyevsky or Tolstoy, Bulgakov captures the fucked up writing style that is Russian lit. "

" Master piece, But I prefer Mirra Ginsburg translation. Yes I've read the original in Russian thus I can judge the translation. :) Do not read spoilers, just read the novel itself. It is well worth your time. But try if you can find Mirra Ginsburg translation instead. "
