" An acquaintance of mine showed me the Marcel the Shell with Shoes on video the other day. It was both creepy and hysterical. She said there was a book, too, so I tracked it down. It's a bit different from the video, but has the same strange charm. Marcel likes himself, has adventures, regrets his lack of a dog, and goes to bread when he gets sleepy. Might be more appealing to adults than to kids, but hey, they'll be in stitches. "

" They really should have reconsidered the font. Nearly illegible in places. "

" I just happened to see this on display at my local library and had to check it out. Nothing can top the YouTube videos, but the book was a great reminder of Marcel and his very special personality. "

" Two of the things that make the video work are Jenny Slate's voice and the absurdity of Marcel in real world scenes. It could be a better picture book if it either ventured further from the video or resembled it more closely. "

" This is too funny when read along with the audio from the publishing company's website. Not sure what the kiddos thought, but I was laughing. "

" The book did contain some little know facts that were not uncovered in the youtube video. I can hear the voice of Marcel as I read this story. And now I hear there is a Marcel the Shell With Shoes On Two. I will have to watch that although the original would be tough to beat. "

" 36 months - not my kind of read. O seemed a bit more interested than myself but I think we both finished the book wondering why... We could really live without this one. "

" If you love Marcel the Shell, you will love this book! I'd highly recommend following the link on the back of the book to be able to listen to Marcel narrate the story. It's just not the same without that voice! "
