Lloyd Cassel Douglas (1877–1951) began his writing career in midlife after working for many years as a minister. He gained international fame with his novels Magnificent Obsession and The Robe. His other novels include Forgive Us Our Trespasses, Precious Jeopardy, and the sequel to The Robe, The Big Fisherman.

About Irene Dunn

Irene Dunne had hoped for an opera career before joining the touring musical ironically named Irene. She became a stage and film actress who with roles in Showboat as well as Ann Vicker, The Age of Innocence, Sweet Adeline, and I Remember Mama. She earned five Academy Award nominations throughout her career.
