Jennifer Weiner's richest, wittiest, most true-to-life novel yet tells the story of three very different women as they navigate one of life's most wonderful and perilous transitions: the journay of new motherhood.
Becky is a plump, sexy chef who has a wonderfull husband and baby girl, a restaurant that received a citywide acclaim -- and the mother-in-law from hell. Kelly is an event planner who's struggling to balance her work and motherhood while dealing with unemployed husband who seems content to channel-surf for eight hours a day. Ayinde's basketball superstar husband breaks her trust at her most vulnerable moment, putting their new family even more in the public eye. Then, there's Lia, a Philadelphia native who has left her Hollywood career behind, along with her husband, and a tragic secret to start her life all over again.
From prenatal yoga to postbirth sex, Little Earthquakes is a frank, funny, fiercely perceptive take on the comedies and tragedies of love and marriage.

"I read this while I was pregnant and really enjoyed it. I read it again recently, when my daughter was about 8 or 9 months old, and I appreciated it much more. It was better the second time simply because I could connect even more to the characters because I was going through exactly what they were going through in the book. Definitely a good read!"

“Weiner, a wonderful natural writer and storyteller, renders her characters and their lives in details that resonate as the real deal.”
— Publishers WeeklyHilarious, heartbreaking and insightful.
— The Miami Herald“ Immensely readable… Weiner's gift lies in her ability to create characters who both amuse us and make us care. ”
— Washington Post“Lively, witty, and often touching…Weiner's snappy dialogue and captivating characters make Little Earthquakes endlessly appealing.”
— People“ Hilarious, heartbreaking, and insightful. ”
— Miami Herald“Weiner seamlessly and gracefully weaves the four women's stories together. The fact that her second novel, In Her Shoes (2002), is being made into a movie…should draw plenty of readers; once they pick up the book, they'll find a warm, often funny, touching look at the challenges and joys of new motherhood and marriage.”
— Booklist" Taking a break from my usual scifi stuff. Thanks Barnes and Noble for the free ebook! "
— Dale, 2/17/2014" ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... vapid, one-dimensional, sterotypical, uninspiring characters leading boring lives going nowhere. Bonus - several key "plot" devices were stunningly unrealistic. "
— Kirsten, 2/8/2014" Loved this book!! Not exactly literature but laugh out loud funny! Weiner put a voice to the thoughts that run through every new mother's mind. "
— Melissa, 1/27/2014" Given I have a 7 month old, I could really identify with parts of this. It's amazing how the common experience and challenge of being a new mother can bring some otherwise very different women together. I definitely enjoyed this book. "
— Brigid, 1/21/2014" I found ways to relate to the characters even though I don't have kids. I thought the loose ends tied up a little too neatly. "
— Charlene, 1/16/2014" This book touched a lot of topics that hit close to home as a mom. I can relate to the characters in most of the situations during that time after having a baby where you are struggling to find that balance between being a wife and mom while not forgetting who you are. "
— Jeepster, 1/11/2014" This is my favorite of Jennifer Weiner's books. "
— Katie, 1/7/2014" I thought this was a good easy read. I was able relate to most of the characters at some point in the book. It really drives home the point that life doesn't always turn out the way you plan. "
— Nancy, 12/19/2013" not my type of book but it's o.k "
— Kimberly, 12/15/2013" While the writing is somewhat contrived (do people in real life really throw back their heads and laugh?) and the characters are a bit predictable, Jennifer Weiner did a fantastic job capturing the emotions of new motherhood. "
— Ashley, 12/14/2013" I read this at a time in my life when I had nothing in common with these four women, but I still liked their stories! That's gotta say something about the author, right? "
— Rachel, 12/13/2013" Audio book. More mommy/pregnancy-lit. I'm sorry, I can't help my addiction. Maybe I'll re-read Jane Eyre to counterbalance. "
— Julie, 8/28/2013" A great little read, one to take to the airport! "
— Helen, 6/26/2013" I highly recommend this book! "
— Kristine, 6/14/2013" Very cute and easy to read. Perfect for summer traveling or laying by the pool! "
— Meaghan, 3/9/2013" What a great, easy read. I really enjoyed this book and even though it went in between 4 different characters, it was easy to keep up with them and their "life stories". "
— Jennifer, 1/19/2013" I thought this book was pretty funny. If you are a mom I think you'll enjoy this book. "
— Heather, 10/12/2012" Didn't care for all the baby stories. I guess it was the wrong book for me to read, since I'm WAY past baby-days. Although Weiner's funny and flowing writing made reading it not unpleasant. "
— Janet, 9/22/2012" Definitely a chick lit book, but I really liked the characters and the story. A fun, light read. "
— Maria, 9/11/2012" This is my favorite Jennifer Weiner book. I loved the different perspectives and could really identify with these characters becoming mothers for the first time. "
— Tamara, 1/17/2012" Basic Jennifer Weiner novel - easy read, predictable ending; and I loved every page of it! "
— Kristina, 9/25/2011" Takes a chapter or 2 to get into, but then I sailed right through it. "
— Monica, 8/24/2011" Wonderful story about life and adjusting to motherhood. "
— Jen, 8/13/2011" This book reaffirmed my decision not to have children :) At the same time I really enjoyed the story and how Jennifer Weiner develops her characters. At the end of the book I felt like I knew them in real life. Cute story to remind me of why I never want a baby! "
— Brooke, 7/7/2011" Since when is it OK to switch between third person and first person storytelling within a chapter? This confused me mightily at first. One character speaks in first person; the rest we hear from in third person. Other than that, it was a fun read, with some truly hilarious moments. "
— Sarah, 6/20/2011" a must read. loved it! you can relate to at least one of the characters. "
— Sara, 5/27/2011" This is my second favorite book by Jennifer Weiner. I love how all the stories intertwine and how they help each other. In fact I need to re-read it! "
— Nancy, 5/24/2011" not my type of book but it's o.k "
— Kimberly, 5/20/2011" This was fine as a beach book; it seemed somewhat like one of those movies that ramble along, until it's suddenly time to wrap it up. Everything was resolved just a little too neatly for this world in which we live. Still think Good in Bed is her best. "
— Barbara, 5/19/2011" I really liked this book. I like that the babies brought all the ladies together. "
— Rachel, 5/17/2011" i really liked this book a lot. i laughed, i cried, i held my breath...it was just so real. i will admit, i was a little sad with the way it ended...was just sort of a letdown or something, i dunno. "
— Laura, 5/11/2011" Wonderful story of friendship! The added bonus of the pregnancy of each character will tug at your motherhood heart string or biological clock. I loved each character. They were very realistic and easy to identify with because they all came from so many different walks of life. "
— Vonetta, 5/10/2011" I read this one while I was pregnant with my first child. I think every expecting/first time mom needs to give this one a read! "
— Natalie, 4/29/2011" ok...but started getting burnt out on J Weiner. "
— Wendy, 4/28/2011" Great. Funny. A clever and witty quick read. The story-telling style reminded me of Tara Road...but this was a more updated storyline with a humorous twist. "
— Mallory, 4/19/2011" Easy 'in the car' listen. So far, it's ok. "
— Katherine, 4/14/2011" Another great book by Jennifer Weiner! "
— Dawn, 4/12/2011" Wow, I forgot that chick lit was so fun. Good thing she has so many books, since my brain is on permanent vacation these days. "
— Sara, 4/12/2011" a novel bout motherhood. very enjoyable. likeable characters "
