Alfred Augustus Jackson (1831–1913) was an ardent Republican since the organization of the party. In February, 1868, he was admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, and was a member of the Historical Society of Wisconsin, and of the American Historical Society. In 1872 Beloit College conferred upon him the degree of M.A.
