"Perfection. These are amaising short stories, perfection of the medium. What a pleasure to be transported to Barry Lopez land where there are acres of land between words. He's a craftsman. The stories are not so much read as collected. Read read read this book but you can't have mine. "

— Elizabeth, 7/29/2012" I loved his style of writing and found I enjoyed the short stories even more than his longer pieces. I am so amazed at how much information/detail/description/images that he can pack into such a short piece. I give it 4.5 stars. "
— Sidra, 7/7/2012" i'd give it five stars for the story "The Mappist" included here, which is beautiful. The rest of the collection, however, veers wildly from simply boring and overwrought to truly horrifying. "
— John, 6/11/2012" Not exactly what you expect from Lopez, which is good. And bad. A little too fictionally forced and the landscapes are not stages, but props. "
— Ryan, 5/10/2012" Less Caribbean flavor than I was expecting but nonetheless interesting. "
— Mary-Marcia, 2/9/2012" This was quite enjoyable. "
