Sixteen-year-old Leinad thought he was a common farmer’s son, nothing more. He wondered why his father had trained him for years to master the sword—not exactly a tool of the trade for farmers—but one tragic event initiates a world of revelation. Only then does he begin to understand his calling—a calling no other man in the entire kingdom of Arrethtrae can fulfill—a calling given him by the King himself. Teamed with a young slave girl, Leinad is thrust into adversity and danger—for the Dark Knight and his vicious Shadow Warriors will stop at nothing to thwart the King’s plan to restore the kingdom. Leinad will need more than a sharp blade and a swift hand to fulfill his mission and survive the evil plots of the King’s sworn enemies! Journey to Arrethtrae in this multi-voice dramatization, where the King and His Son implement a bold plan to save their kingdom; where courage, faith, and loyalty stand tall in the face of opposition; where good will not bow to evil—and the future of a kingdom lies in the hands of a young man.

"While this is a read aloud book I am reading to my seven year old and five year old sons, I must admit it has been one of most favorite series. The Kindom series is awesome and we are in love with the characters. We actually have to make ourselves put the book down and I am just as bad as the kids with these. If you are looking for a great Christian read aloud that boys and girls of any age will love I highly reccomend these."

“A Pilgrim’s Progress for the Xbox generation! That’s what Chuck Black has achieved in his Kingdom Series, an allegory of the whole Bible told in a medieval format of noble knights and scathing sword fights, quests and dragons, betrayal and final victory by the true Prince over the Dark Knight.”
— Dave Jackson, author of the Trailblazer novels“Take up the sword handed to you and boldly carry it through the pages of Chuck Black’s Kingdom Series. You’ll be held captive by a creative journey through a distant world that leads to God’s word…and a kingdom like no other.”
— Tim Wesemann, author of Swashbuckling Faith: Exploring for Treasure with Pirates of the Caribbean" I was pleasantly surprised with the writing of this book. It was not overly simple but had good organization and plot development. It has strong biblical imagery throughout and exalts biblical morals without making the characters perfect and without weakness. "
— Jon, 2/12/2014" This book just wasn't for me. It felt wooden with references to biblical characters, events, and theology so obvious that it lacked depth. It could have been good, as the Passages series by Paul McCusker was good, but it just fell flat. If the story had brought new insight for me into the character of God I might have rated it higher, but The King in this story was wooden as well. Actually, I thought the plot was boring too. I know there are a lot of people who really like these books, and I can see why. I hope they aren't too disappointed by my review (sorry Andi!)... this story just wasn't meant for me. "
— Rachel, 2/2/2014" I can't help it-- these weren't my favorite books, and I'll tell you why. Even though I love the concept of using a story as an allegory to the Bible (like C.S. Lewis and the Chronicles of Narnia), I couldn't get passed how literal Chuck Black's retelling was. Even the main character's name, Leinad, is Daniel spelled backwards. One of his primary enemies was Fairos (Pharaoh) and plenty of the dialogue was ripped straight from Bible passages ("Let my people go!"). I needed more subtlety and finesse to truly enjoy the books, which I thought had a lot of potential. The upside is, these are great for kids because they're completely clean and obviously deliver a great moral message! Will be passing them on to my daughter. :) "
— Lindsay, 1/27/2014" This book, my family read for devotions. and It is a very, very good book!! "
— Meghan, 1/21/2014" It was a very good allegory for the OT and has helpful discussion questions at the end to make you think about the symbolism. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series "
— Isabel, 1/21/2014" Good book, kind of slow. "
— Sarahlynn, 1/17/2014" I LOVED these books! I've read them through about twice and I could def read them again! I think some1 should make movies out of these books I would DEF watch them!!!! :) "
— Emily, 1/12/2014" Fun while it last but in the end leaves me feeling like I just read a magic tree house book. I guess if you're into relegious fantasy and 100+ page long books then you should read this. "
— Isaac, 1/5/2014" I wanted to enjoy this, I really did. But just couldn't get into it. Was recommended to me but I feel that it's meant for a younger audience. It's a nice book - just not my kind. "
— Cari, 12/17/2013" The kids really enjoyed this book, especially once they started seeing the direct connections to Old Testament characters and events. "
— Jeremy, 6/2/2013" We bought these for Brendan a couple years ago but he hasn't read them. They are a biblical allegory written in medieval times. "
— Jennifer, 3/5/2013" Overtly Christian. To easy to guess what's going to happen next. "
— Alasdair, 1/18/2013" I really found this book boring and cheesy. Would not recommend. "
— Britts, 10/14/2012" Really good, really easy read. Seriously, I read this in an hour when I was 11 or 12. After the second or third book, when the story's no longer about Leinad, I stopped reading because I didn't like them anymore. Good message too. The end. "
— EmilytheDragon, 8/1/2012" its a very good book it good some bible storys in it too! "
— bec, 7/16/2012" Amazing teen Christian Fantasy! Loved the way it weaved stories from the Bible through this skilfully written book. Highly recommended it! "
— Hannah, 7/16/2012" Eli loved these! He said they were great and loved the Christian theme throughout the series. "
— Trish, 5/26/2012" A strong read that combines the biblical stories with his own creative thinking. "
— Kenneth, 4/25/2012" Seems more of a boys book, more telling, less describing. I got recommended it by a friend (a boy) who loved it, but for me it was alright, but not mind blowing or anything. (My brain is still intact) "
— Shaleh, 11/10/2011" Good "secondary" literature for boys. A sort of Pilgrim's Progress allegory of the Bible from Genesis 1 to Exodus 4, set in medieval times. The writing is best in the sword fighting scenes. Some good lessons about faith, loyalty to the King, endurance in difficulty. "
— Steve, 7/15/2011" This book is about how a teen goes though his normal life with his father and bad things happen.

I like this book. It is set during the middle ages, when life was horrible. "
— Allan, 5/13/2011" A great anallogy book that moves at a good pace and is an enteraining way for kids to learn their Bible stories. "
— Rachel, 3/31/2011" I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series. They are great!!!! "
— Rachel, 1/24/2011" I loved this book. It's a perfect allegory of Genesis, knight in shining armor style. "
— Anna, 7/26/2010" I don't think I have learned anything from the book but this book is sssssssssssooooooooooooo interesting that I finished reading the book in one day . "
— Andrew, 5/20/2010" I really like this book, though it was a little weird and predictable.:)
Weird is sometimes good as long as you don't go to far, which is pretty much how this book was written.=D "
— Sonia, 12/18/2009" I LOVED these books! I've read them through about twice and I could def read them again! I think some1 should make movies out of these books I would DEF watch them!!!! :) "
— Emily, 8/6/2009" As the cover quote says, it's the Pilgrim's Progress for the X-Box generation.
It's a retelling of Biblical events in a fantasy setting with fewer characters (such as, the Noah is also Abraham and Moses), over a shorter time period. Book 1 and 2 cover the old testament. "
— Denae, 3/29/2009" This is the best book of the whole series. "
— Abigail, 2/28/2009" I really liked it because it told a lot of parables from the bible. "
— Laura, 1/5/2009" Cam and I love these books. They're allegorical and, of course, have lots of knights and sword fights. "
— Leigh, 1/4/2009" This book, my family read for devotions. and It is a very, very good book!! "
