"This book is a novelization of the original 1933 classic film. I typically do not enjoy novelizations, but I was completely on board for this one! Well written, great descriptions, and I was compelled to love that monkey. Gorilla. Kong. Love Kong."
— Karen! (4 out of 5 stars)
“Rudnicki provides his melodious baritone…He keeps his characterizations diverse but restrained [and] provides a fine, laid-back performance. Even more enjoyable are the commentaries found on disc five.”
— Publishers Weekly“Stefan Rudnicki treats this pulpy novelization of the original Kong film with respect, allowing listeners to appreciate on its own terms the familiar story…Rudnicki’s deep, craggy voice…and seriousness help one past the campy or dated parts.”
— AudioFile“King Kong still holds the force of its raw simplicity. More myth than monster, Kong suffers the fate of the classic tragic hero, destroyed by his own nobility. High-tech civilization overwhelms his primitive power. Beauty kills the beast.”
— Jack Williamson, author of The Humanoids“[This] audiobook is certainly special…I loved the commentary included…a true treasure for the ages. Kudos to Blackstone for giving us this Special Edition.”
— SFFAudio.com" Great story but the author is a bit clunky with the writing... "
— Dr, 7/25/2013" The original novelization of the original movie. A little more background on some of the characters, but not nearly as good as the film. "
— Rich, 5/9/2013" So this is my first book read for the new year Woot!! Honestly it was.... ok. Not my kind of book and the narrator was kind of annoying :) "
— Kerry, 12/16/2012" If you've seen the original movie, then you pretty much know the plot of this book, which is a straight novelization of the film. It is a fast read and worth while for anyone who is curious enough to want to pick it up. "
— David, 12/10/2012" I wouldn't bother; just watch one of the films. (Even the crap remake from 1978 is better than this.) "
— Steve, 5/24/2012" This did not read like a novelization of a movie because of the in depth character development and the ease of wiriting. There are only two complaints that I have: 10, The ending is too abrupt; 2), King Kong is one-dimensional. Yes, he is an ape but he has a story. "
— Jaime, 8/30/2011" It was well written. I got a little bored toward the end, but only because I knew exactly what was going to happen from the movie. the ending seemed a touch rushed as well, but overall it was a decent read. "
— Charles, 8/18/2011" Read some time ago. Surprised I chose it and finished it. "
— Stuart, 1/11/2011" Great story but the author is a bit clunky with the writing... "
— Dr, 8/26/2010" Read some time ago. Surprised I chose it and finished it. "
— Stuart, 8/8/2010" It was pretty good. "
