" A dark, ravishing and intriguing romance novel. At the heart of this novel, Jane Eyre portrays an intensely deep relationship between a man and a woman from staunchly different classes during the Victorian Era in England. Rochester, the male protagonist, is a rich lonely man harbouring a secret that threatens to destroy his passionate love for a women below his social standing while Jane, the female protagonist, is a plain-looking introverted young woman who is looking for a place in the world. Jane Eyre is intertwined with a complex plot, characterization, and symbolism. Rochester and Jane are an iconic romantic pair, much like Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet and Jane Austen's Darcy & Elizabeth. Charlotte Bronte was a woman ahead of her time, if this novel was written today, it would have easily delved further into the relationship between the main protagonists, absence of the censorship inherent during the time.
