This skilfully abridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Charlotte Brontë's best-loved novel, Jane Eyre, is read by the actress Joanna David.

Jane Eyre is orphaned, bullied, and humiliated as a child, but her spirit is never broken. After leaving her harsh boarding school, she finds work as a governess and finally discovers the love that she has always longed for, with the dark and sardonic Mr Rochester. But Rochester has a monstrous secret, concealed in the attic of Thornfield Hall - a secret that threatens to tear them apart.

"I have loved and adored this book since I first read it at age 16. Bronte draws the reader in and Jane represents the very best parts of humanity. Though it was written in a very different age, and perhaps Mr. Rochester has a few serious psychological issues, it is an absolutely incredible novel that you can't help but take to heart."

" The word ejaculate has been used in ways I have never seen before, and the perseverance required to get through all 641 pages of this book were definitely worth it. (I am 100% happy with how that ended) "

" Such an amazing story! No major plot/event, but a true to the heart tale of real life situations, from a different time period. I would highly recommend this to any avid reader, but suggest they have a dictionary handy. "

" This is one of the greatest books I've ever read. Jane Eyre is possibly the most complex character I've read about. And I love Mr Rochester! He's devious but it's easy to see how much he loves her! Ugh, I sobbed at the end of the novel. READ IT, LOVE IT, CRY ABOUT IT. "

" Gothic Romance before the genre existed. It helped start a whole genre and yet is still relevant today. Also a Dickensian beginning, before _Oliver Twist_... Definitely a Must-Read. "

" Most classic works of literature are great, but Jane Eyre is a touch more thrilling than most, and its ending is particularly poignant. Save for the last line and a superfluous supernatural touch, it's perfect. "
