"I wish I were a writer and had the skills and time to write a mini essay about the book. Unfortunately I don’t but I must compliment something as good as this is. It’s better than anything I’ve read attempting to capture the life experiences of people who lived 200 years ago. When I have to stop and look up the meanings of words I believe my own life has been improved. Like all the Jane Austin books I’ll be reading it again. "

Stephanie Barron is a graduate of Princeton and Stanford, where she studied history.
