No-one does female rage quite like Delilah Dawson. It Will Only Hurt for a Moment is both a deft examination of creativity (via its pitch-perfect depiction of an artist’s retreat) and an absolutely bone-chilling take on the asylum novel. Never has the past seemed more desperately and rage-inducingly present. An absolute must-read.
