From the New York Times bestselling author of the Quinn Colson series comes a fast, funny, violent noir novel based on the crimes of George “Machine Gun” Kelly.
In July 1933, a gangster staged the kidnapping-for-ransom of an Oklahoma oilman. He would live to regret it. What started clean soon turns messy as two of “Machine Gun” Kelly’s partners cut themselves into the action, a determined former Texas Ranger makes tracking Kelly his mission, and his wife, ever alert to her own self-interest, starts playing both sides …
Set in the first days of the modern FBI, Infamous is a passionate blend of historical novel and crime story featuring an unexpected hero, some of the most colorful supporting characters in recent crime fiction, and unforgettable femme fatale Kathryn Kelly—the Lady Macbeth of Depression-era crime.
“Bullets fly, gore puddles and, as the denouement approaches, oh how those pages turn. Atkins, who loves his characters colorful, makes readers love them too, and it doesn’t much matter whether they’re naughty or nice."—Kirkus Reviews

"Thoroughly enjoyed reading this. This is the first book by Ace Atkins that I've read, and I have to say he really transports you into the story. This is historical fiction; I know some liberties were taken, but all in all, it was a great read."
— Crystal (5 out of 5 stars)
" Didn't finish it, bored me "
— Rachel, 2/8/2014" Another well-written novel that includes real people. My only criticism is that "Machine Gun" Kelly uses too many 50 cent words in his letter to his kidnap victim at the end of the book. The letter seems too well written and knowledgeable in vocabulary for someone who mainly liked to drink and mess around with his wife. "
— Jennifer, 1/27/2014" Three and a half stars rounded down. "
— Robert, 1/17/2014" Fun read! would like to read the real deal/background story of Machine Gun and Kit. Story was a bit confusing and hard to follow...but still a great read. "
— Dave, 1/12/2014" I found it a bit tiresome and hard to follow at the beginning, but gradually got caught up in the story and the time. "
— Lynn, 12/16/2013" I haven't had this much fun reading a book since I solved the Fatty Arbuckle rape case along with Dashiell Hammett and Ace Atkins in Devil's Garden . "
— Rebecca, 12/14/2013" Fictional story about Machinegun Kelly and a kidnapping. This book was difficult to follow at times due to rambling around from character to character. I sincerely hope Atkins does a better job with Robert B. Parker's Spenser series. "
— Ed, 12/11/2013" This was an interesting book, but I liked Devil's Garden much, much better. "
— Jessica, 11/7/2013" Found Ace Atkins because he finished a Robert B. Parker novel after Parkers death. Enjoyed Infamous, a glimpse into the probable life of "Machine Gun" Kelly and his Katheryn. "
— Bonnye, 8/27/2013" I want to see the movie now!! Good gangster read! "
— Kkoester, 12/18/2012" this book was ok. guess I kept reading it just to see how it all played out. "
— Anita, 7/17/2012" The story line was good, and the scene was always set well, but I found it hard to keep track of who was who. There were several characters that I kept getting confused by and had to re-read parts to remind myself who they were. This made it hard for me to follow and so I rated it with 2 stars. "
— Emily, 12/16/2011" This was a fairly well written and researched account of "machine gun" Kelly. I found it fascinating. "
— Mindy, 7/9/2011" Ace Atkins has done it again with this historical novel centering around George "Machine Gun" Kelly. "
— Alice, 5/28/2011" I found it a bit tiresome and hard to follow at the beginning, but gradually got caught up in the story and the time. "
— Lynn, 2/24/2011" this book was ok. guess I kept reading it just to see how it all played out. "
