"I'm not usually a fan of military stories, but these stories by Ambrose Bierce are excellent. Psychologically penetrating, engaging, and in some cases, haunting."

" One of the 19th century pioneers of the "weird tale", Ambrose Bierce's Tales of Soldiers and Civilians won't just scare you or "creep you out"; it will make you think. HP Lovecraft cites Bierce as one of his main influences. "
