About the Authors

Denene Millner is a New York Times bestselling author and an award-winning journalist. She has written more than two dozen books and has had work appear in many national publications, among them Essence, Ebony, and Women’s Health. Millner lives in Atlanta with her husband and two daughters.

Nick Chiles is a Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and the coauthor of three New York Times bestsellers with R&B icon Bobby Brown, civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton, and gospel legend Kirk Franklin. He also coauthored with Academy Award–winning actor Jamie Foxx the parenting memoir Act Like You Got Some Sense, and with Atlanta attorney Robbin Shipp the book Justice While Black, a finalist for a 2015 NAACP Image Award. He teaches journalism at the University of Georgia.

About the Narrators

Dion Graham is an award-winning narrator named a “Golden Voice” by AudioFile magazine. He has been a recipient of the prestigious Audie Award numerous times, as well as Earphones Awards, the Publishers Weekly Listen Up Awards, IBPA Ben Franklin Awards, and the ALA Odyssey Award. He was nominated in 2015 for a Voice Arts Award for Outstanding Narration. He is also a critically acclaimed actor who has performed on Broadway, off Broadway, internationally, in films, and in several hit television series. He is a graduate of Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, with an MFA degree in acting.

Caroline Clay is a film, television, and voice actress. Her acting credits include appearances on The Message Board, Law & Order, and All My Children. She has also narrated several audiobooks, such as A Wicked War by Amy S. Greenberg, Player Hater by Carl Weber, Casting the First Stone by Kimberla Lawson Roby, and What You Owe Me by Bebe Moore Campbell.
