About Robert Westall
Robert Westall (1929–1993) was born in Northumberland, England. His first published book, The Machine Gunners, won him the Carnegie Medal. He won the Carnegie Medal again for The Scarecrows, which made him the first writer to win it twice. He also won the Smarties Prize for Blitzcat and the Guardian Award for The Kingdom by the Sea. Robert Westall’s books have been published in twenty-one different countries and in eighteen different languages, including Braille.
About Rula Lenska
Rula Lenska, the daughter of a Polish count, has undertaken many national tours, including The Vagina Monologues, An Inspector Calls, and Dangerous to Know. Other stage appearances include Masterpieces, 84 Charing Cross Road, and Pericles. She also played Krystal in EastEnders and has made many guest appearances on television.
