Kendall's managed to wrangle her grandmother's house free and clear except for the rules. No male roommates. But that's ok; with the right ad she'll pull in some girls, their rent and, if she's lucky, she won't have to go to work any time soon. For their part, Anna, Lelani, and Megan all have their reasons for wanting to move in: Anna has got to get out from under her overprotective parents; Lelani can't take another day in her aunt's tiny crackerbox house overflowing with toddlers and Megan needs a place free of her current roommate from Hades. Though they come with assorted extra baggage filled with broken hearts and dreams, they will discover they also have a vast array of hidden strengths. As they struggle to become the women they want to be, they'll find new hope, and maybe even Kendall will learn a thing or two about life, love and the true meaning of friendship.

"I had never read this author. It started off slow and I had trouble but then it was a fun read. I really liked all the characters and the content was light and fun. I will look for more books by this author. "
— Jodi (4 out of 5 stars)
“Carlson’s fun and fascinating new series is sure to delight. The four roommates are detailed and interesting, and their situations will likely mirror those of many readers: jobs, moving, relationships, friendships, and money…Definitely leaves one eagerly anticipating the sequel.”
— RT Book Reviews (4 stars)" This book is about four very different girls who become roommates. At least three of them are easy to like and the other will make you wish you didn't live with her. Overall, an interesting story with a good premise. The end pretty much leaves you hanging for the next three novels. I assume they will all lead into each other. I will probably look for the next one when it comes out. "
— Marjanne, 2/17/2014" I can not believe they'd publish and market such an awful (no plot, no point, no moral of the story) book... "
— Lori, 2/16/2014" This was fun and light. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. Its a simple becoming friends story. It kind of echos 'sisterhood of the traveling pants' a bit. "
— Kelli, 2/13/2014" I really liked this book but it felt like it had just gotten going and then the book ended. I think there is a sequel so I will be checking it out sometime soon. "
— Karen, 2/8/2014" Maybe I have just stayed away from the genre of "Christian fiction" too long. This was another disappointment for me. It was mildly amusing, but surprising lacking in....something. Maybe this book wasn't intended to be "Christian" fiction. It was clean, but just lacking somehow. The story is the first in a series. I might be interested enough to read another one. Or maybe not. "
— Clarissa, 1/11/2014" She's a Christian writer, which I didn't know. The book was surprisingly good. There are random mentions of God, The Bible, and Being a Christian which I'm not used to in a book, but the plot was cute. "
— Dana, 12/21/2013" I didn't really like this very much, but I could not put it down. "
— Sarah, 12/20/2013" I only give this book 2 stars because I DID finish reading. The characters were very shallow. I really wonder if the author received product kickback because many products were referenced throughout the book. For example: Clinque, Prada. I will not purchase the rest of this series. "
— Jody, 12/3/2013" Liked enough to want to know what happens next, but nothing amazing... "
— Jen, 11/29/2013" This one was okay - not quite as believable as most of Melody Carlson's books. It was an enjoyable read, though. "
— Pamelarowell, 10/18/2013" I liked the idea of women and friendships and the Christian aspect of tis book, but it was only OK. Even at the end of the book the 'bad' girl just didn't get it. "
— Karen, 9/23/2013" A cute story with lots of my favorite things: historic house, decorating, relationships...great chick lit. I certainly enjoy Melody Carlson's writing! Keep 'em coming! "
— Marcia, 9/19/2013" This was a book about 4 20somethings who are going to be living together and have some differences to work out. Book 1 in a series of 4. "
— Andrea, 8/13/2013" I enjoyed reading the book. It was an easy read and the characters were engaging. I like the fact that the story continues on in the next book and we can find out more of what is going on at Bloomberg Place! "
— Andrea, 4/14/2013" it was okay. not my genre. But it wasn't terrible. I don't think I will be getting into the series however. "
— Rebecca, 4/12/2013" Eh, I liked it. Not amazing, not terrible. I think it should be geared more towards the YA section, but that's just me. Hopefully as the books go on, the series will get a little more exciting. "
— Kyleigh, 2/3/2013" I loved this book. I read it in one day. I laughed through it. It kept my attention. I couldn't wait to start the sequel. "
— Michelle, 11/19/2012" How did this book even get into my hands? Why did I finish it? Could've been not wanting to hurt my head thinking too hard when I was sick in bed? Why do I want to know what else will happen? "
— Lisa, 7/3/2012" Really cute book. I had no idea this was a series, I cannot wait to read the next one. "
— Jen, 6/23/2012" Another freebie. Not too bad, not great. I don't think I need to read the next books in the series because I can already see where it is going. "
— Heather, 3/3/2012" This book is interesting. I like the relationships between the characters. It was a bit odd how quickly it ended though. I understand that this a series. I might be interested in reading the rest of it but not interested enough to pay money for them. "
— Laura, 12/10/2011" I enjoyed reading this book. "
— Marie, 12/2/2011" It is an easy read but the author didn't get to the most interesting part of the story, which is the missing girls. The whole book felt like character development so it can continue as a series. "
— Megann, 9/24/2011" This was a free download on my Kindle. The writing was a little juvenile but I found out later that the author writes teen fiction), but the story itself was interesting, and I find myself wanting to read the next in the series. "
— Loni, 7/11/2011" Awsome book about four women whe are totally different...cannot wait for the next book to come out!!! "
— Cheryl, 6/2/2011" I loves this book it was an easy read about 4 girls becoming roommates and trying to live together with different backgrounds. "
— Mandi, 4/3/2011" After reading some 50 pages of that book, I wondered what made me "buy" it and looking at my kindle history, I got it because if was free at the time. A girly book obviously, the kind I just cannot stomach. Certainly happy I didn't buy it. "
— Claude, 3/27/2011" Fun and yet somewhat silly. Following the life of these 4 girls reminded me how grateful I am not to be single and in my early 20's. : ) "
— Julie, 3/6/2011" Took too long getting to the point. And then, bam! It was over. "
— Tiffany, 1/27/2011" Enjoyable, quick read. About four post-college girls who decide to rent a house together and their adventures that follow. This is book 1 of 4 in the series. "
— Carol, 1/11/2011" How did this book even get into my hands? Why did I finish it? Could've been not wanting to hurt my head thinking too hard when I was sick in bed? Why do I want to know what else will happen? "
— Lisa, 12/13/2010" i wouldn't say the writing is the best but i've not been overly impressed with the characters in ms. carlson's books. however, it at least keeps me reading and is the type of fiction book that is good to kill some time with. "
— Erin, 8/28/2010" I like this series, it's frothy fun. I do think it's weird that it's billed as Christian fiction when the only Christian reference is the main character. Maybe it will get more Christian later on? "
— Ashley, 6/21/2010" I was so surprised by this book! A sweet friend sent the four books home with me because she was convinced I'd love them. She was right. Props to Katie.... I can't WAIT to read the next one! "
— Jessie, 5/31/2010" This was fun and light. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. Its a simple becoming friends story. It kind of echos 'sisterhood of the traveling pants' a bit. "
— Kelli, 5/16/2010" I only give this book 2 stars because I DID finish reading. The characters were very shallow. I really wonder if the author received product kickback because many products were referenced throughout the book. For example: Clinque, Prada. I will not purchase the rest of this series. "
— Jody, 1/23/2010" Freebie on the Kindle. Not bad, a quick read. Would not have selected it if it hadn't been free - not my usual fare. "
