Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third may very well grow up to be an awe-inspiring swordsman and the greatest Viking who ever lived, but as a boy, he is incredibly ordinary. In fact, the most impressive thing about the young, slightly freckle-faced Hiccup is just how unbelievably ordinary he is.

Sadly, Hiccup's dragon Toothless is no more impressive, only half the size of other boys' dragons. Still, in a world populated with characters like Gobber the Belch and Snotface Snotlout, zany adventure is always just around the bend. And in a crazy turn of events, Hiccup and Toothless find themselves going up against a horde of brawny, if not overly bright, Romans. Danger awaits, but this might be just the chance Hiccup needs to prove his bravery! Cressida Cowell is hailed as a new star in children's fiction (The Times).

" After I saw the movie,How to Train your Dragon, I discovered it was based on a book series - so I found some of them and read them. I must say, the movie was completely different than the books; don't get me wrong, they are both really good. The books were much funnier and a lot more goes on. I enjoyed these laugh-out-loud books and would recommend them to a child who is interested in dragons, vikings, and fantasy. "
