" I was seeking practical, concise, hands on advice. What I got was a whole lot of words that did not translate into action for me & my pup. I still like Cesar but there wasn't anything new or actionable in this book. "

" So I have a one year old dog and decided to read this book since he has a, let's say "challenging" personality. Step One of Caesar Milan's How to Raise the Perfect Dog....Choose the perfect dog!!! What do ya mean that I wasn't supposed to pick the super cut but extremely excitable one that was bouncing off the walls!!! Good greif, here's some advice i could have used sooner - READ THIS BOOK BEFORE YOU CHOOSE YOUR NEW PUPPY!!! Ok, all joking aside, this was an easy and entertaining read that I wish I'd picked up earlier. Linking the stories of several puppies into the material keeps readers interested and amused. I just wish there had been more of a focus on blizzard (lab) and junior (pitbull)...but that's likely because my ill-behaved mutt is a lab-pit cross... "

" Overall I appreciate Millan's philosophies- however I am not sure I have been gifted with the innate mind meld gift it seems to require to control the will of all dog-kind simply by staring into their eyes, through their souls and wordlessly communicating my desires through my constant and unwavering calm. Time will tell. "

" The only reason i had to read this book is because i have a new puppy and i really didnt know much about her so reading up was the best thing i could do. I learned so much from reading the whole thing and some more. It is a good book for people who have a dog and want to learn more about them. "

" Great book, lots of smart ideas that I wouldn't have thought about. HOWEVER, it has way too much fluff. The same relevant information could've taken up about a 1/3 of the book. I gave it 4 because the information but it is very long winded-- you've been warned :) "

" Cesar, thy way is too perfect. You (and Martha Stewart) bring out all my control freak, OCD tendencies. I will take what you say to heart and practice being calm, assertive (which I am almost NEVER), but I will not let you make me feel inferior. "

" I love this guy, Caesar Milan! He's incredible! The book is great by itself, but I followed up with a DVD with some of his favorite episodes of his TV show, "The Dog Whisperer" which brought it all together in reality. I am planning to get a puppy soon. "

" I was given "How to Raise.." when I was thinking about getting a puppy. Had I not read Cesar's guide page by page there is no way I would have been prepared to welcome a 12 week furry friend into my home. This is a must read for any first time puppy owner.
