"RFL 2012 I really didn't think I would like this one because there is often a scary book on RFL, but this is not scary. It's about necromancers and werewolves and witches and has a girl's talking severed head being carried around in a bowling bag, but I found it entertaining in a twisted way. It reminded me so much of a tamer Christopher Moore with all of the weird eccentric undead type of things but not the over-the-top sex and vulgarity."

" I read this in spite of the title and really enjoyed it. Fun characters and interesting plot line. "
— Tishangela, 2/13/2014" Loved this book! It was so much fun to read! It was funny and had an awesome story to go with it. "
— Naomi, 1/5/2014" I didn't like this book to begin with. I have a problem with a talking severed head, but I know my students will love it. It is kind of like the Vladamir Tod series. It has an older lead character who finds out that he is a necromancer whose powers have been bound. It has some adventure and fighting that I know my guy students will like. Overall, a boy book that needs to be in the middle school library. It will definitely leave the shelves. "
— Gina, 11/22/2013" I think I peed myself several times from laughing so hard because of this book. It was awesome. "
— Jack, 9/20/2013" This book has a bit of everything: humor, horror, action, romance, and even a few heartfelt moments. This is one I'll be putting into my book talk rotation. "
— Tammy, 8/30/2013" This was a hilarious black comedy - perfect for anyone with a slightly morbid sense of humor who also likes 'guy' books! It's gory and gross in places, but not gratuitous. My favorite character was the talking severed head. 'Nuff said. "
— Ian, 8/22/2013" Another 3.5. I've been reading a lot of 3.5s lately. I liked the Buffy-esque quality of this one. As an audiobook, I strongly preferred one narrator over the other, so that whenever the weaker of the two was on, I found myself thinking, "Ugh, go back to the other guy!" "
— Megan, 8/9/2013" In general I liked it. An interesting twist on what you think you might know about paranormal and their society within our society. But this was a bit too descriptively dark for me though still an interesting read. "
— Debbie, 7/16/2013" Quirky and kinda brilliant :-) "
— Bonnie, 10/27/2012" Loved it! This book is like a fun guy movie - a roller-coaster ride adventure through a paranormal/horror world. Add latent necromantic powers, a really evil bad guy, and a hawt were-chick, and you have a recipe for some great action! "
— Lillian, 10/18/2012" Readers will appreciate the refreshing sense of humor in this book. "
— Lola, 5/20/2012" Funny and action-packed, this was an enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to the next installment. "
— Cristen, 5/4/2012" My new favorite book! Looking forward to a sequel... "
— Melliott, 3/20/2012" Please look past the cheesy title - this book has it all - snarky humour, edge-of-your-seat action, grounded emotion, amidst all manner of paranormal characters. And it might even be a stand alone *gasp* "
— Trisha, 11/21/2011" I would recommend this to fans of Vladimir Tod. "
— Maggie, 10/5/2011" Rogan gave me this for my birthday. Will update once I've finished it! "
— Kelsey, 7/24/2011" My new favorite book! Looking forward to a sequel... "
— Melliott, 5/23/2011" A really fun read, there were parts that were sad [spoilers removed] , some scary, and some hilarious. A really good start to a promising series. "
— Abigail, 5/23/2011" This book was as hilarious and awesome as Rachel said it would be. I love when a book proves that there are still original characters to be written in YA lit. "
— Melinda, 5/22/2011" Fantastic and funny with lots of action. "
— Ardis, 5/21/2011" It was different, funny but gross at the same time. "
— Lorna, 5/13/2011" I really enjoyed this book. I had listened to part of the book and then read the whole thing. It was great both ways. The readers were awesome. I can't wait for a sequel. I really want to know what happens next in Sam's journey to becoming a Necromancer and I want to know how Ramon is. "
— Rachel, 5/13/2011" This was funny, fast-paced, and entertaining. If you like paranormal reads, but don't want the unending drama of love triangles and the poor writing, try this! "
