This laugh-out-loud chapter book series follows adorably rambunctious fox siblings Ted and Nancy as they get into (and out of) trouble, making many colorful friends along the way. Perfect for young readers who love animals and are looking for big laughs, this humorous adventure story will draw giggles from both children and adults.
Our story begins when Ted, a young fox, accidentally bites off the tail of the fearsome street cat Princess Buttons. (It looked a lot like a dumpster hot dog!) With Buttons and her gang out for vengeance, Ted and his big sister Nancy must flee the city, taking cover in the nearby forest community of Grimwood.
There, they meet new allies, and Ted finally gets a best friend in the shape of a tiny but ferocious bunny named Willow. Nancy lets her guard down and discovers the ancient squirrel game of Treebonk. Their new friends, who include Pamela the eagle (a noted conspiracy theorist), a jazzy owl, and a Jeep-driving group of unhinged badgers, help them in a final show-down against those pesky cats when they return for Princess Buttons’ tail. Maybe Nancy and Ted have found their new home?
In a second story, Nancy has joined the Grimwood Treebonk team and might just be its star player. Ted meets a sleek and mysterious grownup fox who is the mayor of neighboring Twinklenuts, a shimmering utopia of slightly fancier woodland creatures. (Could he be Ted and Nancy’s missing father?) As it turns out, Mr Silver Fox has some dastardly plans. It will take Nancy’s cunning, Ingrid the duck’s devious spying, and even Pamela the eagle’s bizarre podcast to set things right in Grimwood!
In the third and final story, the Grimwood gang (plus the Twinklenuts crew!) is living in harmony, about to celebrate the wedding of two squirrels from opposite sides of the tracks. (Might Pamela have something to say about this union?) But the wedding party is thrown off track by a thieving stink monster––is it a jackalope, a hootie hamnah, a talking potato? Or WORSE, a Bigfoot? The whole forest will have to work together to solve this mystery. While they do, Ted and Nancy get some important clues about their parents’ disappearance…will they finally learn what happened to them?
Listen to find out! Narrated by esteemed comedian Adam Buxton, Grimwood: The Collected Tales is a delightful adventure for the whole family, jam-packed with both humor and heart.
