Publisher Description

Ian was the 0ne who chased the majestic buck into the forest. (His motto: Act first, think later.) Kendra didn't want to become separated from the other sixth graders, but she followed Ian anyway, despite what her analytical mind told her. PJ followed him too. Even though he was scared, he figured he might catch some amazing footage with his video camera.

They all hoped to return to the hiking trail before anyone noticed they were gone. However, the mountain had other plans for them: dark, sinister plans that only nightmares are made of.

Now they don't know where they are. They don't know how to get home. They don't know what gruesome creatures lurk in the shadows—but when they find out these grisly ghouls are actually ravenous zombies, will they be able to escape the mountain with their lives?

This first book in the Gravediggers series is a scary, mysterious, wild ride that will thrill readers to the very last page.

"My students are always asking for scary books. I think this will be a perfect match for many of my students - though I will try and limit it's check out to 5th graders. I found this book to be scary - but not too scary at all. I think students will be clamoring to check it out!"

Quotes

  • “This is my kind of book—fast, frightening, and all too real!”

    — R. L. Stine
  • “Krovatin has done something fairly unusual here. It’s not some tweak on zombie rules; rather, it’s a seriousness rarely seen in zombie books…One part wilderness survival story and one part grueling horror, Krovatin’s text lends the characters and events just enough realism to give the plot a welcome weight, without entirely sacrificing the middle-grade attitude…A clever opener to what looks to be a series.”

" The setting for this book really affects the plot because it is set in a forest with lots of trees caves and places to hide things, and in the forest the three main characters disturb something in the forest and then you have the conflict etc. from there. "

" Interesting and Intriguing take for a zombie book aimed at preteens/kids.There is a humor through that I personally like. It's not Monstrumologist level of greatness but I'm looking forward to what manner of creatures are encountered in future installments "
