Discover a parenting style that nurtures a healthy family and displaces fear as a motivator for behavior. Learn how to meet your child's three driving inner needs for security, significance and strength with the invaluable gifts of love, purpose and hope.
Modern parents are stressed out and tired. They’ve tried countless parenting books on the market, many of which are harsh, fear-based books that loving parents instinctively reject. As Christians, we frequently believe that the battle for a child's heart and soul is fought on the outside with rigid rules and boundaries, when in fact the opposite is true.
Dr. Tim Kimmel, founder of Family Matters ministries, offers a timeless look at parenting. Rejecting rigidity and checklists that don't work, Dr. Kimmel recommends a parenting style that is the opposite, emphasizing the importance of communicating the unconditional love that Christ offers and affirming this timeless message of grace to one's family. In Grace-Based Parenting, you’ll learn:
As we embrace the grace God offers, we begin to give it—creating a solid foundation for growing morally strong and spiritually motivated children. This revolutionary book presents a whole new way to nurture your family.

"I loved this book so much and recommend it to all my Christian parent friends. It is a beautiful illustration of what being a strong yet gentle parent means. It's power under control, exhibiting the love and grace you receive from your Heavenly Father and learning to model that for your children and speak love and wisdom into their lives. It reminded me to not sweat the small things- instead of freaking out over things that seem absurd, take a new approach and think about whether or not its really detrimental or simply a learning experience. I plan to read this book multiple times as to continually be reminded of its strong principles."

" One of the best parenting books I've read so far! This is one not to put on the shelf, but to keep at your bedside. I often refer back to this book for guidance, inspiration, wisdom, and my own need for GRACE as I journey through parenting. I highly recommend this! "
— Carly, 2/16/2014" I am enjoying this book.. It reminds us how fortunate we ae to have the parenting experience. And how our kids are not our own. "
— Julie, 2/15/2014" This is a great parenting book, regardless of your kids' ages. This was an especially good book for me to read as my younger one steps into the challenging 3's. I have a BIG need for grace (and patience and tolerance) these days. And even though I didn't necessarily agree with everything the author encourages or discourages, I definitely had a few "A-HA!" moments and look forward to putting his words into action in our home. "
— Liz, 2/12/2014" This book didn't tell you how to discipline, but it did tell you how to live your life. Your children are watching you and you are an example of God to them when they are young. "
— Jessica, 2/3/2014" A refreshing counter-argument to the rigidity of legalistic or Dobsonian parenting (kids are PEOPLE, too! Who knew??). I thought his emphasis on grace and God's love for children takes some of the pressure off parents to be perfect, even though some reviewers thought he attributed too much to parental influence. It didn't offer a lot of practical, "do this" advice, but that was part of his point. I like that he asks parents to examine their own hearts and consider how the Lord disciplines us. It's His kindness that leads us to repentance. Something to think about when the kids are driving you bananas! "
— Cayce, 1/27/2014" Loved it! Can't wait to start reading it again and hope I can be a Grace-based parent. "
— Kayla, 1/26/2014" Great for paradigm shifting, but low on practical how to. "
— Danielle, 1/23/2014" The best book I've read on parenting - and I've read quite a few. "
— Carolyn, 1/18/2014" Said it was not another manual full of impossible standards...for the most part I felt the same. Giving grace to your kids so they can grow morally strong was the biggest message I got from the book. "
— Jennifer, 1/8/2014" not much practical advice- sadly "
— Beth, 1/3/2014" I think this book will prove to be transformational in the way I think about parenting and being a parent. I highly recommend this to any parent, with kids young or old. "
— Laura, 1/3/2014" Josh so badly wanted me to read this. Honestly, I got very little from it and found it hard to read. It took me months to read it. Sorry, but I really didn't like it much. "
— Jessica, 1/1/2014" Vague and kind of sentimental/superficial; he threw around the word "grace" way too much without really making it clear what grace is and how it applies to parenting. I didn't find this nearly as helpful or inspiring as the many women who rave about it on my mothering message board. "
— Amy, 12/20/2013" I gleaned a several new insights from this book. Worth reading. "
— Heidi, 12/19/2013" Loved this book!!! It really help me realax some in my parenting and it really focuses on the heart of our children "
— Angelia, 12/12/2013" This was a really good book for me. In my Pharisee heart I need constant reminders of God's grace and showing it others, especially my kiddos. "
— Greg.joliegmail.com, 12/9/2013" Best parenting book I've ever read. In fact, I should go read it again. "
— Erin, 10/21/2013" This book offers one of the best approaches to parenting that I've read. I feel renewed and encouraged in fighting the tendency towards legalism in my own heart and loving/disciplining my children as God loves/disciplines me-full of grace!! "
— Jehan, 10/4/2013" The last 15 pages were good, but otherwise this book offered me no new information. "
— Sue, 9/29/2013" This is a great book for Christian families who want to create a loving atmosphere which fosters encouragement, support, safety, and reasonable expectations. It is based on the model of God's amazing grace within the parameters of his commands and expectations. A Must Read. Very liberating. "
— Suzanne, 8/3/2013" Best parenting book I have ever read. I feel like an entirely different person after reading it. I would recommend this book over and over again. Tim also has the book on CD and although good it misses so much the book has to offer. "
— Jennifer, 4/11/2013" Best parenting book - wish I had this when my children were babies!! Highly recommend to any parent or care-giver. "
— Veronica, 3/6/2013" A must read for parents!!! "
— Kristen, 2/28/2013" Overall a good book. There were a few parts that I was hoping they'd flesh out more, but I guess they have to leave you interested enough to read the 2nd book :-) "
— Jennifer, 1/18/2013" Forced myself through this one. Just couldn't get into it. "
— Kimberly, 11/14/2012" Excellent book. I thought it was very right on with our views on parenting. I'm glad I bought it as I will probably re-read it over the years. "
— Cindy, 6/29/2012" So far, my favourite Christian parenting book. Well-rounded and realistic perspective on parenting for the Christian family. "
